Electric Ranges and Electric Stoves

An electric range gives you a flat, easy-clean cooking surface and an oven that holds its temperature steadily, which is why it is the standard choice for baking. BrandsMart USA carries smooth-top, coil and induction models from the brands worth buying.

Every electric range needs a dedicated 240-volt circuit, so check what is behind your current appliance before you shop. If you have a gas line instead, start with gas ranges.

Shop Electric Ranges and the Rest of Your Cooking Setup

  • Electric cooktops. The burners on their own, dropped into the counter, for kitchens where the oven goes somewhere else.
  • Wall ovens. The other half of a cooktop kitchen. Single, double and combination models install at eye level in a cabinet run.
  • Gas ranges. Worth comparing if you already have a gas line and want a visible flame.
  • Range hoods. An electric range still puts grease and steam into the room. Size the hood to the range width.
  • Cooking appliance packages. Buy the range and microwave together so the finishes and handles match.
  • All ranges and ovens. The full cooking category if you have not settled on a configuration yet.

For brand shopping, compare Samsung electric ranges for Wi-Fi controls, air-fry modes and fast-boil elements, LG electric ranges for even-baking technology and quick-heating radiant tops, or Whirlpool electric ranges for straightforward controls and sturdy everyday build. GE, GE Profile, Frigidaire and KitchenAid are all here as well. See the full brand lineup.

Why Buy Your Electric Range From BrandsMart USA

  • Large showrooms in Florida and Georgia. Hundreds of appliances on the floor, so you can compare glass finishes, rack action and control layouts side by side. Find your nearest store.
  • Friendly, expert help in the showroom. Our appliance team works with these models every day and will happily walk you through smooth-top against induction, and what your 240-volt circuit will support. No pressure and no jargon: tell them your space and your budget, and they will help you shortlist.
  • Financing is one of the better reasons to buy here. There is more than one way to spread the cost, and they work differently. The BrandsMart USA credit card carries 0% promotional financing on qualifying purchases, with the length of the term depending on the category and the amount. Katapult lease-to-own needs no credit at all, and you can check your buying power without affecting your credit score. Klarna splits a purchase into interest-free installments with a decision in seconds. Because those are three separate programs rather than one, a route that is not a fit for you does not have to be the end of it.
  • A clear return policy. If it turns out to be the wrong choice, our return and refund policy explains exactly how exchanges and refunds work. Return windows are shorter on major appliances than on small items, so check the terms before delivery day.
  • Induction on display. Seeing how fast an induction element boils water is the fastest way to decide whether it is worth the extra money.
  • Pickup or delivery, plus professional installation. Check what is included in our delivery and installation details, and pick up at a store if that suits you better.
  • Competitive pricing, and offers worth checking. Our 110% low price guarantee applies if you find the same model advertised for less, and it is worth looking through appliance deals before you order.
What financing options are available on electric ranges?

Three separate programs, which is the point. The BrandsMart USA credit card carries 0% promotional financing on qualifying purchases, and major appliances are usually where the longer terms apply. Katapult is lease-to-own and needs no credit, and you can check your buying power without affecting your credit score. Klarna splits the cost into interest-free installments with a decision in seconds. Because they underwrite differently, it is worth asking about more than one. Current terms are on our financing page.

Where can I see electric ranges in person near me?

BrandsMart USA has large showrooms across Florida and Georgia with smooth-top, coil and induction ranges displayed together, which is the quickest way to judge glass finishes and control layouts. Find your nearest showroom and bring your opening measurements.

What is an air-fry mode on an electric range?

It is a convection setting that runs the fan hard with dry high heat, usually paired with a perforated crisping tray that lets air reach the underside of the food. It gets close to a countertop air fryer for fries, wings and vegetables, and it does it at full oven capacity without another appliance on the counter.

Are electric ovens better for baking than gas?

Generally yes. Electric ovens hold a steadier temperature and run drier, which gives more consistent browning on cakes, cookies and pastry. Gas ovens cycle a little more and hold more moisture, which suits roasting. If baking is the main thing you do, electric with convection is the safer pick.

How do I clean a glass electric cooktop?

Let the surface cool, then use a dedicated cooktop cream and a soft cloth or a plastic scraper held at a shallow angle. Avoid abrasive pads and harsh powders, which dull the finish. Deal with sugary spills while they are still warm, since hardened sugar can pit the glass permanently.

Can cast iron be used on a glass cooktop?

Yes, but handle it carefully. Cast iron is heavy and rough, so lift it on and off rather than sliding it, and never drop it onto the glass. Enameled cast iron is gentler on the surface than raw. Check the pan sits flat, because a warped skillet will heat unevenly on radiant elements.

Do I need special pots and pans for a smooth-top range?

You need flat-bottomed cookware. Smooth tops transfer heat by direct contact, so a warped or ridged base leaves a gap and cooks unevenly. Heavy flat-bottomed stainless, aluminum and enameled cast iron all work well. Induction adds one more requirement, which is that the pan has to be magnetic.

Can an induction range use the same outlet as my old electric range?

Usually yes, because an induction range runs on the same type of dedicated 240-volt circuit as a radiant electric one. Check the amperage the model calls for against your breaker, since some induction ranges ask for a larger circuit than an older range did, and note whether your outlet is three-prong or four-prong so the right cord kit goes on. If you are coming from gas instead, an electrician has to run a new circuit and the gas line has to be capped off properly.

Do I have to replace all my cookware if I buy an induction range?

Almost certainly not all of it. Cast iron, enameled cast iron, carbon steel and any stainless pan a fridge magnet clings to will work exactly as they do now, and most kitchens already own several. What will not work is plain aluminum, copper, glass and the non-magnetic stainless some sets are made from, so go through your pans with a magnet before you order and price replacements only for the ones you reach for daily. A single magnetic skillet and one magnetic saucepan is usually enough to cook on from day one.

Is induction better than a smooth-top electric range?

For cooking performance, yes. Induction boils water faster than radiant electric, responds instantly when you change the setting, holds a low simmer without hot spots, and leaves the surface around the pan cool. It costs more and only works with magnetic cookware, so check your pans with a fridge magnet first. Both are electric ranges on the same kind of 240-volt circuit, so this is a decision about the cooking surface and the price rather than about your wiring.

Does an electric range need a special outlet?

Yes. Electric ranges run on a dedicated 240-volt circuit with a large three or four-prong outlet, not a standard wall socket. If you are replacing an electric range the circuit is already in place. If you are switching from gas, a licensed electrician has to run a new circuit and the gas line has to be capped off.

What size electric range do I need?

Almost certainly 30 inches wide, which is the standard cabinet opening in American kitchens. Compact kitchens and apartments often take a 24-inch model, and 36-inch ranges are available if you have the cabinet space to give up. Measure the gap at its narrowest point and check the height under the counter before ordering.

Smooth Top, Coil or Induction

Radiant smooth top is the most common. Heating elements sit under a single sheet of ceramic glass, so there are no drip pans and the whole surface wipes down flat. Elements glow and fade rather than responding instantly, and the glass stays hot for a while after you switch off.

Coil elements are exposed metal spirals sitting in drip bowls. They heat fast, cost less, and handle a warped or uneven pan without complaint. Cleaning takes longer because the bowls come out separately, and the look is dated for most remodels.

Induction uses an electromagnetic field to heat the pan itself rather than the surface under it. Water boils noticeably faster, a low simmer holds without hot spots, and the glass around the pan stays cool enough to be far safer with children in the kitchen. The catch is cookware: pots and pans have to be magnetic, so test yours with a fridge magnet before ordering.

The 240-Volt Circuit, and Why It Matters

Electric ranges do not plug into a normal wall socket. They need a dedicated 240-volt circuit with a heavy cord and a large three or four-prong outlet, and the breaker has to be sized for the appliance. If you are replacing an existing electric range, that circuit is already there and the swap is straightforward.

If you are coming from gas, budget for an electrician to run a new circuit and for the gas line to be capped off properly. That work usually costs more than the difference between two models, so factor it in before you compare prices.

1. Measure the opening and check the cord

Standard electric ranges are 30 inches wide, with 24-inch and 36-inch options either side. Measure the cabinet gap at its narrowest point, then check the height under the counter and the depth to the back wall. Note the outlet type as well, since ranges ship without a cord and a three-prong outlet needs a different one from a four-prong.

2. Choose the cooking surface

Pick smooth top for easy cleaning and a flat modern look, coil for the lowest price and tolerance for old cookware, or induction for speed, precision and safety. Smooth tops and induction both need flat-bottomed pans to make proper contact, so a heavily warped pan will cook badly on either. Cast iron works on all three, but drag it across glass and you will scratch the surface.

3. Look at how the oven bakes

Standard bake uses elements at the top and bottom of the cavity. True or European convection adds a fan and a third element, which evens out hot spots, browns better and lets you use two racks at once. Convection recipes generally run about 25 degrees cooler and finish sooner. If you bake regularly, this is the feature worth paying for.

4. Decide which extras you will actually use

Air-fry modes run the convection fan hard at a dry high heat and usually come with a crisping tray, which saves counter space if you were thinking about a separate fryer. Self-cleaning burns off spills with a high-heat cycle. Warming drawers, double ovens and app control are all useful, but only if they match how you cook.

5. Plan the cleaning

Glass tops are the easiest surface to keep clean as long as you treat them properly. Wipe spills once the surface has cooled, use a cooktop cream rather than an abrasive pad, and lift pans instead of sliding them. Sugary spills should come off while still warm, because they can pit the glass if they harden. Coil elements are more forgiving but the drip bowls need separate washing.

Electric or gas range: which suits how you cook?

Go electric if the 240-volt circuit is already behind your range, if you bake, or if you want the cooking surface that takes the least work to keep clean. An electric oven holds a steadier, drier heat, which is what gives cakes, cookies and pastry even browning, and a single sheet of ceramic glass wipes down in one pass with no grates or burner caps to lift off. Adding a gas line to a kitchen that has never had one is licensed work, and it regularly costs more than the price gap between two ranges.

The genuinely useful modern answer is that induction, which is an electric range, now beats gas at the things gas was always chosen for. It brings a pan of water to the boil faster than a home gas burner, changes output the instant you turn the dial, and holds a low simmer without the hot ring a flame leaves under the middle of the pan. The honest catch is cookware, because the pan has to be magnetic. Choose a gas range if the line is already there and you want visible flame for charring, wok cooking or a warped old skillet.

Radiant smooth-top or induction?

Radiant is the sensible buy on a budget, or if you do not want to think about pans at all. The elements sit under the same easy-clean glass as induction, nothing is off limits from aluminum to enameled cast iron, and at the same width and oven feature level it costs meaningfully less. What you give up is response: the element glows up and fades slowly, so it lags behind the dial, and the glass stays hot for a while after you switch off.

Induction earns the extra if you cook most nights. Only the pan heats, so boils are faster, changes are instant, and the glass around the pan stays cool enough to be far safer with children in the kitchen and easier to wipe the moment you are done. Two trade-offs to accept: every pot has to be magnetic, so test yours with a fridge magnet and budget for replacing the ones you use daily if they fail, and some thin pans buzz at high power. Both surfaces sit side by side in our Florida and Georgia showrooms, which settles it in about a minute.

Opening the doors and pulling out the drawers tells you more than any spec sheet, and every electric range here can be seen in person. We have eleven showrooms across South Florida and metro Atlanta.

Each store page has the address, phone number and current showroom hours. You can also find the store nearest you or order online and collect in store.

However you prefer to buy, the choice is yours. Come see the electric ranges in person at any of our showrooms across Florida and Georgia, order online and pick up in store, or have yours delivered and installed, with haul-away of the old unit available on most major appliances. Financing is available on qualifying purchases, including a lease-to-own route that needs no credit. Tell us what your circuit will support and someone can talk you through smooth-top against induction.
