Shopping for a refrigerator comes down to three things: the space you have, the way your family actually uses a fridge, and your budget. BrandsMart USA carries every major style, from roomy French door models to slim counter-depth and compact fridges.
French door refrigerators. Wide fresh-food space at eye level, with the freezer below. The most popular style for families.
Side-by-side refrigerators. Full-height fresh and frozen compartments, narrow doors that suit tight walkways, and easy in-door ice and water.
Top-freezer refrigerators. The classic layout and the most affordable way to get a lot of usable capacity.
Counter-depth refrigerators. They sit nearly flush with your cabinets for a built-in look without a built-in price.
Compact refrigerators. For dorm rooms, offices, garages, bars and second fridge duty.
Display refrigerators. Glass-door merchandisers for shops, break rooms and home entertaining spaces.
Wine and beverage coolers. Dedicated temperature zones for bottles and cans, so your main fridge stays free.
Why Buy Your Refrigerator From BrandsMart USA

and measure, compare and ask questions before you commit.
Friendly, expert help in the showroom. Our appliance team works with these models every day and will happily walk you through measuring an opening, judging shelf layouts and working out which style suits how you shop. No pressure and no jargon: tell them your space and your budget, and they will help you shortlist.
Financing is one of the better reasons to buy here. There is more than one way to spread the cost, and they work differently. The BrandsMart USA credit card carries 0% promotional financing on qualifying purchases, with the length of the term depending on the category and the amount. Katapult lease-to-own needs no credit at all, and you can check your buying power without affecting your credit score. Klarna splits a purchase into interest-free installments with a decision in seconds.
Because those are three separate programs rather than one, a route that is not a fit for you does not have to be the end of it.
A clear return policy. If it turns out to be the wrong choice, our return
and refund policy explains exactly how exchanges and refunds work. Return windows are shorter on major appliances than on small items, so check the terms before delivery day.

What size refrigerator do I need?
Plan on roughly four to six cubic feet of fresh-food capacity per adult in the household. Most couples and small families are comfortable between 18 and 22 cubic feet, while larger families and frequent entertainers should look at 25 cubic feet or more. Always confirm the model fits your measured opening before you order.
Will a counter-depth refrigerator work in my kitchen?
Measure three things before you decide. The opening width, which is usually 33 or 36 inches. The depth from the back wall to the front edge of your counter, since a counter-depth model is built to finish nearly flush with a standard 25-inch counter while the doors and handles still project past it. And the clearance in front, because the doors need room to swing and a bottom freezer drawer needs to pull out fully without hitting an island. A counter-depth fridge is the right call in a galley kitchen or anywhere a standard-depth cabinet would block a walkway, and the trade is capacity: expect a few cubic feet less than a standard-depth model of the same width. Browse counter-depth refrigerators and take the measurements with you.
Which refrigerator style has the most usable freezer space?
Side-by-side models give you the most organized frozen storage because the freezer runs full height with shelves and door bins at eye level. French door models hold a similar volume but in a wide, deep bottom drawer that's harder to sort. If you freeze in bulk, pairing any fridge with a chest or upright freezer is the better answer.
How long does a refrigerator last?
Most refrigerators last between 10 and 15 years with normal use. Replacing the water filter on schedule, keeping the condenser coils clean, and leaving airflow clearance around the cabinet all help you reach the top of that range.
Can I put a refrigerator in my garage?
Only if it is rated for it. Standard refrigerators are built for indoor room temperatures, and an unconditioned Florida or Georgia garage swings well outside that range: in summer heat the compressor never gets a break, and on a cold snap the thermostat can stop calling for cooling altogether and let the freezer thaw. Look for a model the manufacturer explicitly rates as garage-ready, which is designed to hold temperature across a much wider ambient range, and check the same rating before putting a fridge on a lanai, in a carport or in a shed. Leave a few inches of clearance for airflow and give it a grounded outlet of its own rather than an extension cord.
Do smart refrigerators need Wi-Fi to work?
No. A smart refrigerator cools normally without ever being connected. Wi-Fi only enables the extras: temperature alerts on your phone, filter reminders, remote adjustments and app features.
Is a refrigerator with an ice maker worth it?
For most households yes, because it is the feature people miss most when they skip it, but it does cost you space. An ice maker built into the freezer takes a bite out of frozen storage, while an in-door dispenser eats into the door bins and adds a filter to change every six months. Either way, a plumbed model needs a cold water line where it will be installed, so confirm you have one or ask about it as part of installation.
Expect only a few pounds of ice a day from any refrigerator, so if you entertain often a standalone ice machine is the cheaper answer than a bigger fridge.
How much electricity does a refrigerator actually use?
A modern full-size refrigerator generally uses a few hundred kilowatt-hours a year, and the yellow EnergyGuide label on every model gives you its own estimate so you can compare two models like for like. What moves that number is size and features more than brand: a bigger cabinet, a through-the-door dispenser and a second ice maker all draw more, while a simple top-freezer layout is usually the most efficient per cubic foot. Placement matters just as much, because the same fridge works far harder in a hot garage or a sunny Florida lanai than in a conditioned kitchen. Keeping the condenser coils clean and leaving airflow clearance around the cabinet both keep running cost closer to the label figure.
How often should I change my refrigerator water filter?
Every six months is the standard recommendation, and most models with a dispenser will light an indicator when the time is up. Change it sooner if the flow slows, the ice turns cloudy or a taste comes back, since a household that gets through a lot of water and ice loads a filter faster than the calendar suggests. If you leave one in far too long it stops removing much of anything and starts restricting flow, which is a common reason a dispenser or ice maker seems to stop working.
Do I need a separate wine or beverage fridge?
You need one if drinks and bottles are crowding food out of your main refrigerator, or if you keep wine and want it held at its own temperature. Wine and beverage coolers usually run a little warmer than a food fridge and use can racks or angled bottle shelving, so they hold far more drinks in the same footprint and you are not opening the kitchen fridge every time someone wants a soda. If the unit will also hold leftovers, milk or anything perishable, buy a regular refrigerator instead, because a beverage cooler is not built to stay reliably below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
What is a freezerless refrigerator?
A freezerless refrigerator, also called an all-refrigerator, is a full-height unit with no freezer compartment at all, so every shelf and drawer is fresh-food space. Two kinds of buyer choose them: households that already own a standalone freezer and would rather not pay twice for frozen storage, and people building a column pair with a matching all-freezer beside it. It is also a sensible answer for a butler's pantry, a basement or garage kitchen, or anyone who simply keeps far more fresh food than frozen.
Availability is limited compared with standard styles, so check what is currently listed across the full refrigerator lineup.
Where can I compare refrigerators in person near me?
BrandsMart USA has large showrooms across Florida and Georgia where the major styles sit side by side, so you can open doors, pull out drawers and judge shelf layouts for yourself. Find your nearest showroom and bring your measurements.
What financing options are available on refrigerators?
Three separate programs, which is the point. The BrandsMart USA credit card carries 0% promotional financing on qualifying purchases, and major appliances are usually where the longer terms apply. Katapult is lease-to-own and needs no credit, and you can check your buying power without affecting your credit score. Klarna splits the cost into interest-free installments with a decision in seconds. Because they underwrite differently, it is worth asking about more than one. Current terms are on our financing page.
Finishes and Placement
Stainless steel remains the most popular finish and hides fingerprints better in its fingerprint-resistant versions. Black stainless and matte white read softer and pair well with painted cabinetry, while plain white and black are the value choice. If you're replacing several appliances at once, buying a matched kitchen appliance package keeps the finishes consistent and usually costs less than buying piece by piece.
1. Measure the opening first
Measure the width, height and depth of the space, then check the door swing and any handles or islands nearby. Leave about an inch of clearance at the top and sides for airflow. Standard-depth models run roughly 30 to 36 inches deep, which is why they stand proud of most cabinets; if a flush look matters to you, start with counter-depth models.
2. Pick the configuration that matches how you shop
If you buy a lot of fresh produce and leftovers, a French door layout puts most of that at eye level. If you freeze in bulk, a side-by-side or a standalone freezer gives you far more organized frozen space. Households that mostly need capacity per dollar are usually best served by a top-freezer model.
3. Decide which features you'll actually use
Ice and water dispensers, dual ice makers, flexible temperature drawers, and door-in-door compartments all add real convenience. They also add cost. Wi-Fi and app control are genuinely useful for temperature alerts and filter reminders, less so for everything else. Be honest about which ones you'll touch weekly.
4. Check capacity against your household size
As a rough guide, plan on four to six cubic feet of fresh-food space per adult. Two to three people are usually comfortable in the 18 to 22 cubic foot range; four or more, or anyone who entertains often, should look at 25 cubic feet and up.
5. Look at running cost, not just sticker price
A refrigerator runs continuously for a decade or more, so efficiency shows up on every power bill. Compare the yellow EnergyGuide estimate between the models you're considering. If the fridge is going in a garage or Florida lanai, confirm it's rated for that temperature range before you buy.
Which refrigerator style should you buy?
Most households should buy a French door refrigerator. The fresh-food section spans the full cabinet width, so a sheet pan, a platter or a holiday bird lies flat on a shelf at eye level, and each door is only half the cabinet wide so it needs little swing room. Buy a side-by-side instead if you cook from the freezer every week or you want in-door ice and water, because the frozen side is a full-height column you can read at a glance. Buy a top-freezer model if capacity per dollar is the priority, if the opening is under 30 inches, or if the fridge is for a rental, a garage or a second kitchen.
Counter-depth is a shape rather than a fourth layout: pick it on top of French door or side-by-side when a flush cabinet line matters more than three to five cubic feet. The honest summary is that shelf width and freezer access are what people still notice a year later, not the feature list. Side-by-side shelves run roughly 14 to 16 inches wide, so wide items will not lie flat, and a French door freezer drawer holds plenty but buries whatever is at the bottom. Decide which of those two annoyances you can live with and the shortlist mostly sorts itself out.
Counter-depth or standard-depth?
Start with standard-depth. It is the default for good reason: at any given width it holds more, costs less and comes in far more models, and the few inches it stands proud of the cabinets bother most people less than they expect. Standard-depth cabinets run roughly 30 to 36 inches deep, so measure the walkway behind the fridge before you rule it out, and see how much capacity the same width buys you across the full refrigerator lineup.
Counter-depth earns its premium in three situations: a galley or narrow walkway where a projecting door is a daily nuisance, an open-plan kitchen where the fridge sits in a sightline you look at constantly, or a remodel where the cabinetry is being replaced anyway. Plan on a cabinet 24 to 30 inches deep and three to five fewer cubic feet than a standard-depth model of the same width. That space comes out of the freezer and the deep door bins first, so if you buy meat in bulk, budget for an upright freezer in the garage at the same time.
Opening the doors and pulling out the drawers tells you more than any spec sheet, and every refrigerator here can be seen in person. We have eleven showrooms across South Florida and metro Atlanta.
