Wish I could have kept my previous oven

By Tiff

from Houston, TX

Comments about Whirlpool - 30" Built-In Wall Oven:

Although I ordered the steam clean oven, that is not what was installed and an adjustment was made to the price, but I was disappointed. I wish I had my old oven back because it his new one takes too long to warm up as well as to cool down and requires way too many steps to start and to change the temperature while baking. I preferred the knobs on my old oven. Not sure who thinks that digital is better, but it is certainly not me.

Not Sure About This Unit

By KMB

from Leesburg, VA

Comments about Whirlpool - 30" Built-In Wall Oven:

Well, I did not realize the micro oven door opened down - like the oven. So far, okay. Now the oven! I haven't figured out yet what the problem is, but I don't think the thermostat is right. Unfortunately, I don't use it that often to really test it.

Useful Features

Comments about Whirlpool - 30" Built-In Wall Oven:

I bought this product a month ago after having a Whirlpool Microwave Combo for 21 years, so I use that as a comparison. On the new unit, the push button legends are not easy to read...they should be bolder. Also, the push buttons are difficult to press, especially those with arthritis. Other than that, it is an excellent unit for the price...great value.

Slow and Noisy

By Charles

from Griffin, Georgia

Comments about Whirlpool - 30" Built-In Wall Oven:

Moved into new house about seven weeks ago with new Whirlpool appliances. All are performing well except the oven seems to take a long time in preheat cycle and there is a fan that runs all the time during all cycles and is extremely noisy. Is there a solution?

Temperature Problems

By DO in NC

from Raleigh, NC

Comments about Whirlpool - 30" Built-In Wall Oven:

Same story as others. Builder selected and came with the house.

Won't manage temperature properly. I logged temperature with a digital probe at 350 and 425, each for an hour. The temperature swings at 425 are nearly 40 degrees. Goes from 426 to 385 every 10 minutes. 350 dips 25 degrees. For a digitally controlled oven, this is unacceptable.

I'm a professional chef and after 2 weeks, this brand new oven has frustrated me more than any other home oven in the past 15 years.

As I watch the temperature probe climb to 365 (in the 350 test), I'm stuffing a burnt scone in a box to send to Whirlpool for repair :)

Bad QC, Whirlpool. With others that had similar problems, I'm not looking forward to the builder swapping this one out for a another (potentially) defective one.

Hope This One Last As Long As The Last

By Rick

from Gig Harbor, WA

Verified Buyer

Comments about Whirlpool - 30" Built-In Wall Oven:

We bought this combo to replace our 25yr old Kenmore. We like the style, size, and clean oven bottom (i.e. no heating element to clean around). We have only used the oven a few times, but it seems to function well. I do think the touch controls and functions could be simplified, as they are not intuitive. Also, there doesn't seem to be a setting for starting the oven on a certain time, but rather you have to set it and put in a delay time for start. Why not just have a clock start and stop time? We bought the extended warranty, which is something we rarely did in the past, but, to be honest, the new appliances just don't seem to have the quality of longevity anymore. If it last us for many years, it should be a good investment... so we will just have to wait and see.

Microwave Great

By B

from Texas

Verified Buyer

Comments about Whirlpool - 30" Built-In Wall Oven:

Microwave works wonderfully. Oven takes some getting used to. Oven seems to take forever to preheat to proper temperature. And heaven forbid you open the door to put something in the oven. When you open the door the temperature drops drastically. Then takes forever to get back up to temperature.

Good Buy

By Carl - San Antonio

from San Antonio

Verified Buyer

Comments about Whirlpool - 30" Built-In Wall Oven:

Bought last month for our new home - love the look of the oven/microwave combo in stainless steel. We purchased instead of an equivalent GE model that we had in our other house. We like this unit - the microwave works great, although the buttons to operate it are a little different than what I've seen before. Also, the microwave fan continues to run when the time is up, which is a little confusing. i am not sure if this is a setting I can change or not (don't remember reading anything about this in the instructions but will have to check again). The lower oven is big, has a big window, and preheats much quicker than our GE did. HOWEVER, I will say that the fan in the unit makes an aggravating noise - it's not really loud, but it has kind of an alternating soft whine sound that gets to me after a while, and it goes on for quite a while. The GE had a fan sound as well, but it was a continuous low sound that was not so aggravating. All in all pretty happy with it, although the oven sound may be my undoing with this unit.
