Wow!

Comments about 30" Freestanding Gas Double Oven Range:

Just had this stove installed 2 days ago and put it right to work. LOVE the wide cook top! So much more room than my last GE stove. Heats efficiently and can't wait to see how the grill/griddle center panel works. Still learning how to work with a convection oven vs. a traditional gas oven, but baking a cake now, so we will see! In closing LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this stove!!

Great Oven- HORRIBLE LIGHTS

By salchristy

Comments about 30" Freestanding Gas Double Oven Range:

This is our SECOND oven of the same model. The first had same electrical issues with OVEN LIGHTS as another reviewer stated, both top and bottom lights. After many service calls, it was finally replaced. This replacement oven's LIGHT BULBS, have now been replaced twice since August. That seems quite ridiculous, since most people will never even need to replace an oven light in 15 years. TWICE in 7 months tells us there's a problem with the electrical that has NOT been addressed by GE. As for the baking....... This is a really great oven, especially with the added convenience of being able to use double oven. Cooking in oven is even, be careful when using both racks in lower oven, rotate food halfway through cooking, because top rack with brown faster because it is closer to heating element. Stove top is great and you'll really never find a greater setup of burner sizes with flat racks, pans can easily slide to be moved around. Cleaning the surface is a little tricky. Even at its cleanest you still seek streaks from cleaning rags.

It is Wonderful

By jam maket

Comments about 30" Freestanding Gas Double Oven Range:

I cook a lot. I appreciate how easy it has been to learn all of the settings on the stove. The ovens bake evenly, stop top burners adjust well from simmer to full boil. My last stove which I had for only 2.5 years was such a disappointment, it made cooking hard and left soot on the bottoms of my pans. This stove does not do that. I just love it.

Not what I expected

By rzeigler

Comments about 30" Freestanding Gas Double Oven Range:

Not thrilled with the temperature regulation of lower over - it always seems cold. Had a a tech/rep come out within the first month to verify the performance / temperature, and I still have to extend baking times by 5 to 10 minutes longer than the longest recommended baking time (and to be clear, I am an experienced baker). Also, the convection bake setting supposedly creates even heating within the oven so that one could have multiple pans in at the same time (the user guide even tells you where to position the racks to accomplish this). However, 2 cookie sheets in at the same time do not bake off evenly (some are brown while others are under-done). The rep that evaluated my range said that's because a 2nd baking sheet "blocks" the heat flow. This idea is the exact opposite of what the convection fan should facilitate! Maybe the feature works better on a full sized range? This range came with a griddle for use with the middle burners - nice feature, but not very easy to use. The pan does not heat evenly (even though it's cast iron), I think because the outside burners are so much smaller than the center. Also, the flame control knob has a very small range of movement that seems to change the griddle temp from 200 to 1000 degrees with the tiniest adjustment! It's best for simmering a small pan of sauce while the other burners are occupied.

Loving it so far

By mocachina113

Comments about 30" Freestanding Gas Double Oven Range:

I've had my stove for about a month and I have used the range and the top oven. Thankfully, I haven't had any of the problems that some of the other reviewers had immediately. The lights all work, the temperature seems to be accurate and consistent and I haven't had any uneven baking yet. I do agree with one reviewer who said if you drag your pots across the grates they will scratch and look terrible. I've been conscious of that since seeing it in a review and agree completely - PICK UP YOUR COOKWARE off the grates. I find the touch pad a little stiff and hard to use right now, but expect that will decrease with use. My oven did not come with the manual, which is annoying. After paying $2k for a stove, they least they can do is print the 60 page user booklet. So go online to the GE site and download it for reference. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to use the temperature setting and the timer. I accidentally set the temperature to preheat over an hour because I didn't know what I was doing. When 15minutes later the oven still wasn't to temp, I realized I did something wrong. I'm that person who reads and keeps manuals. So one other thing that I didn't see anywhere in the reviews or the product write ups is that you should have a considerable amount of clearance on both sides of the stove. I have a small apartment kitchen and the powerful 18k BTU burners are so strong that the heat from the flame heats up the wall immediately next to it and I'm concerned it ultimately may damage the paint and possibly cause a fire at some point. Other than this, the stove and over appear to work well. I've made some tasty dishes including personal pizzas in the top oven tonight. So far, I'm satisfied and loving what I now affectionately refer to as the beast, and myself as the beast master! Bon Apetit and happy cooking!
