Loving it so far

By mocachina113

Comments about 30" Freestanding Gas Double Oven Range:

I've had my stove for about a month and I have used the range and the top oven. Thankfully, I haven't had any of the problems that some of the other reviewers had immediately. The lights all work, the temperature seems to be accurate and consistent and I haven't had any uneven baking yet. I do agree with one reviewer who said if you drag your pots across the grates they will scratch and look terrible. I've been conscious of that since seeing it in a review and agree completely - PICK UP YOUR COOKWARE off the grates. I find the touch pad a little stiff and hard to use right now, but expect that will decrease with use. My oven did not come with the manual, which is annoying. After paying $2k for a stove, they least they can do is print the 60 page user booklet. So go online to the GE site and download it for reference. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to use the temperature setting and the timer. I accidentally set the temperature to preheat over an hour because I didn't know what I was doing. When 15minutes later the oven still wasn't to temp, I realized I did something wrong. I'm that person who reads and keeps manuals. So one other thing that I didn't see anywhere in the reviews or the product write ups is that you should have a considerable amount of clearance on both sides of the stove. I have a small apartment kitchen and the powerful 18k BTU burners are so strong that the heat from the flame heats up the wall immediately next to it and I'm concerned it ultimately may damage the paint and possibly cause a fire at some point. Other than this, the stove and over appear to work well. I've made some tasty dishes including personal pizzas in the top oven tonight. So far, I'm satisfied and loving what I now affectionately refer to as the beast, and myself as the beast master! Bon Apetit and happy cooking!

Love!!

By Cereallover

from Bolivar, OH, United States

Comments about 30" Freestanding Gas Double Oven Range:

I've had this for about 4 months now and it's the greatest I can run 2 canners at once on the 2 front large burners. My extra large tub fits perfectly on the center 2 burners for water bath canning. Holiday meals are a breeze and I no longer have to use my second oven in the basement for them since I have the double oven. The lower oven is larger than my old single oven. Both heat up to above 500 degrees for pizzas. I got the center grate and the grill and the grill is great for a number of different things. My only complaint is where it vents. It vents right below the board where oven buttons and clock is so my microwave vent fan comes on all the time from the heat. I think if I had known it would vent there I would have chosen the slide in model but if you do just regular misc cooking and baking you won't have any issues. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone whether you cook or bake a lot or a little it's great!

Good so far

By Nick2727

Comments about 30" Freestanding Gas Double Oven Range:

All we have done so far is cook on top and bake cookies in the top oven. Both were great. We like the added convection feature on the bottom oven. Would be nice if it came with a cook book taking advantage of the oven features. Installer mentioned that the oven adjust the temp if you use convection. Looking forward to next Thanksgiving. Double oven will make a big difference. Also looking forward to the griddle.

Exceptional yet Simple

By Designated Chef

Comments about 30" Freestanding Gas Double Oven Range:

Exceptional features yet simple to use. After 22 years of cooking and baking for the holiday, family dinners with only one oven, USER clean, not self clean at that, I was excited to have my new range/double, steam clean oven delivered. Family coming the next day!!! Would I be up all night trying to figure out how to use this beautiful new appliance? Not at all. It is so easy to use!!! and has so many excellent features. I don't know how I managed with only one oven and will definitely recommend the double oven. With equivalent to six top burners instead of the customary four this appliance makes meal preparation a pleasure. The larger front right burner enables even cooking and frying for larger pots and pans. No more burning the food in the middle of the pan while trying to get the food on the outer area of the pan to cook. The cleanup after cooking, especially fry splatters is so easy. Just be sure to allow the grates to cool before removing to clean, a NO brainer. The volume on the timer could be a little louder, but this does not make me any the less satisfied with my purchase of this appliance. I only wish we had bought this before the holidays. Now I look forward to the next family dinner. Instead of stressing over getting everything done at the same time and cleaning the stove/oven afterwards I simply say, " I can do that! Piece of cake. "
