Solid Construction - A Few Areas to Improve

By TRCinCincy

Comments about 30" Slide In Electric Range:

Mostly well-designed with good function. If you haven't used a glass cooktop before, it is a significant change and not all positive. Great from the standpoint of providing nowhere for food to accumulate, but heating method is vastly different from direct heat transfer of electric coil or the variable heat of gas. Difficult to obtain precise results. Also it is a constant chore to keep the surface clean, but it looks really nice when it is, and it does get the job done. When you go to buy you have to decide which technology is for you. I would probably go this way again, but I would recommend you know for sure that you are comfortable with the differences. The controls are on the front, which is fine with me, but they are a mixture of buttons and dials, like the designers could not decide which era they wanted to reside in. The buttons are nonmoving touch-screen-like areas under glass that are very sensitive, but also a bit over-complex. The display is outdated and plain. The glass piece that is the surface for the display, buttons and dials ends before matching up with the cook surface, so there is a space where food and grease collects and even pushes under the glass, a feature that was supposed to be completely avoidable with a solid glass heating surface. This part of these appliances needs to be reworked. The range functions well for the most part, though sopmetimes the presence of only one large burner is a problem. The oven also functions well, though I swear the oven cooks cool. I guess I need to check. There are supposedly methods to calibrate the oven if it is found to be out of sync with reality - this is a positive. We have not found the convection feature to make much difference so far for the applications we have used it for. Maybe too early to be sure. Though I am dwelling on negatives or annoyances, keep in mind that any product once fully understood could be improved upon, so keep in mind that I am giving this appliance 4 stars.
