Really Nice TV

By blpascha

from Undisclosed

Comments about Sony 55" Class Smart 3D Bravia Premium LED 4K Ultra HDTV With Wi-Fi:

I have had this TV for about two weeks now and am very pleased. I was concerned about the looks as some of the reviews I read mentioned it being a negative. However, it looks great above my fireplace. In regards to picture quality, I have been impressed with everything viewed to date. House of Cards in 4K has been my favorite, though.

Simply Amazing!

By Yates

from Wakefield RI

Comments about Sony 55" Class Smart 3D Bravia Premium LED 4K Ultra HDTV With Wi-Fi:

I have a latest generation HD tv and this set puts it to shame. The lack of 4k content is almost not important in that more is coming on line all the time and this unit upscales my blue ray to simply amazing clarity. I would grab this unit again in a heart beat. I purchased the 55" inch unit and would go bigger, space permitting, as the detail is simply amazing. I still have Sony products that are 20 years old and working perfectly. They are worth price.

Most amazing picture

By 4kTVwatcher

Comments about Sony 55" Class Smart 3D Bravia Premium LED 4K Ultra HDTV With Wi-Fi:

Just amazing to look at. Whether from the 4k player or the up-converted cable signal, an unbelievable picture. Definitely worth the upgrade for the external speakers; amazing sound from a TV, and am not using an external wireless subwoofer. My wife loves how the TV will switch to the DVD or 4k player and back when turned on or off; she no longer has to tell the TV to change input sources.

Love the features and the sound!

By B18CR

from Chattanooga, TN 37412, USA

Comments about Sony 55" Class Smart 3D Bravia Premium LED 4K Ultra HDTV With Wi-Fi:

Love the TV, the features and the sound that's built into it. However I received the TV and the picture has 4-5 very prominent lines going through it and the whole right side is very dark. I am currently in the process of filing a claim with Sony. Just submitted my email with pictures and everything that they require! Now it's up to them. If they send me a new one without making me pay to ship the TV off then I will be very pleased even though I have had the misfortune of receiving a damaged product. I can't wait to have a fully functioning X900B!!!!

Very Good 4K TV, but ....

By MarkWoody

from Nashville, TN 37221, USA

Comments about Sony 55" Class Smart 3D Bravia Premium LED 4K Ultra HDTV With Wi-Fi:

For the money, brand and expectation I give 4 starts. In general is a very good 4K TV but with some flows, and here are the bad ones: A. Mounting: The TV frame is large (55 & 65â€) and the wall holding screws are small than the needed ones. You fill that will don’t hold the whole TV on the wall, BUT they will. B. Setup: Sony has a problem in the past with preview version of this TV due the software. Finally, they decide to revamp the whole software, and “Voilàâ€! 1. Not so great settings setups after all. 2. Despite the excellent sound hardware, the setups are not so great. 3. Sound do not process all the feeds push by cable companies on different channels very well. Most of the blame will fold in the providers and cable companies lap. So, let give a break to Sony in this one. In DVD, CD and 4K stream â€" everything is almost perfect. 4. You need some time to play with all the sound settings to come-up with some satisfactory resolution. For the good and great ones, I have to let the owners to find out, they will be very happy overall with this purchase.

Just Purchased XBR-55X900B

By WC1989

from Provo, UT 84606, USA

Comments about Sony 55" Class Smart 3D Bravia Premium LED 4K Ultra HDTV With Wi-Fi:

I expected this Sony to blow away our Samsung F8000 television, but while I think my new XBR-55X900B beats my Samsung UNF8000, it didn't come close to blowing it away. I wouldn't recommend the X900B as an upgrade at this price and I'll do my best to relay why below. I don't usually review things I buy, but this one disappointed me and I wasn't expecting that. Pro's: I placed the Sony 900B on the wall mount and put my Samsung F8000 on its stand beneath it and went to netflix so I could play the exact same things at the same time on each television. The 900B was connected via ethernet and I was forced to use wifi on the Samsung F8000. The first and most obvious thing I and my wife noticed is that faces appear more realistically colored on the Sony 900B than my Samsung F8000. We had never noticed how off the face was on the Samsung in the past because it has a great picture, but the Sony really looked nice on facial complexion. Also, blacks are blacker on the Sony 900B, which I also liked. Aside from those two "wins", there was nothing remarkable to either my wife or I from a picture standpoint. At roughly $3,000, we were expecting this new XBR55X900B to crush our Samsung F8000 and it didn't. It just edges it out in the two mentioned ways. Cons: I'm going to mention the two most offensive cons first. The remote controls that come with the Sony X900B we purchased are very poor quality and probably the most offensive things about the $3,000 purchase. They have the feel of extremely light weight cheap plastic. Super disappointing. I've had harmony remotes in the past, but when we purchased our Samsung F8000 last August, it came with a very nice high end remote that allowed us to get rid of the harmony. Where Samsung's upscale remote felt premium in my hand, the Sony remote feels like a cheap toy. Because of this, I'm really regretting not holding onto the harmony. TOTAL LACK of 4K content. When we connected this television, the first thing we did was to go to Netflix and attempt to stream House of Cards just to see what the 4K would look like in home. After all, that was the point of our purchasing this television, we wanted something to hold up for the next several years. We were surprised to see the program offered in HD, but not in UHD or 4K. A quick internet search revealed that you have to pay extra for Netflix to stream in 4k. As a result of no access to anything 4K out of the box, we turned to our BluRay and played Oblivion with Tom Cruise. (I selected Oblivion because I thought it would offer some really good visuals.) The picture was unexpectedly granular up close, something I quickly noticed while attempting to adjust the speaker settings. It also looked blurry on motion. I was able to get the grainy look a little less obvious at 3-4ft by adjusting some picture settings as given on CNET and I believe I've limited the blur on motion as well. The only thing that impressed me on the visual of the Bluray I played were the good black levels. Nothing else impressed me at all, and that was really disappointing. Smart Hub was unexpectedly choppy. It's not fluid at all. There is noticeable lag from pressing the remote and seeing the screen selection move. My internet can't be at fault because nothing was streaming, I used ethernet, and my speed is on average 125mbps. All in all, after picking this thing up on Friday night and having it through positing this review on Sunday evening, I'm unlikely to keep it. I want it to be what I expected, and maybe had some 4K content been included to impress a little out of the box, maybe it would have been worth keeping. I really can't justify the $3,000 ($2,799.99 plus tax) on such a minor step up in visuals. At the same time, I really liked the built in speakers. They didn't really disappoint me at all. Between the poor remote controls, lack of 4K content out of the box, and the less then expected upgrade over the F8000 we also have, I'd advise waiting on something better at this price point. This should have been an impressive 5 star purchase, not a 2 star eh....

Truly The Best Of Sony

By danon910

from 92020

Comments about Sony 55" Class Smart 3D Bravia Premium LED 4K Ultra HDTV With Wi-Fi:

I've had this TV for over three months to replace my old Sony Bravia 32" HDTV. First, I was hesitant to get it because of the price tag compared to 4K TVs made by other manufacturer. I've been reading and exploring about 4K since its inception and some reviewers suggested that it's too early to own one due to the lack of 4K content. BUT I tend to disagree with those reviewers for couple of reasons: First , purchasing a TV is like an investment and you'll keep the TV for at least four years and 4K contents are increasing. Second, there are 4K contents! Most of the new shows and movies have been shot in 4K. Even if the content is not 4K, it'll be clearer in a 4K TV as the TV upscale it. Now what makes this TV different from the competitors' are the superb picture quality, the front speakers, and the beautiful wedge premium design. While there's no argue that Sony's been known for making the best looking products, I haven't seen another TV that catches attention like it or come even close to it. Also, the picture quality feels vivid and real especially with the new dynamic range.
