First Impressions

By USAPatriot

Comments about Sony 20.4 MP Cyber-shot Digital Camera:

(I've owned the HX100V for 2 years and have taken slightly more than 8,000 photos with it.) I JUST got the HX300B a few days ago and while I have yet to put it through it's paces, I'm so far amazed at how good this camera is. The zoom is amazing though I've not yet investigated this 100x aspect of it. At 50x I'm getting results as good or better than my HX100V at it's max of 30x. Crystal clear telephoto from a tripod...important...and the color is very close to actual. I played with a few of the features...such as watercolor...and found them interesting though not especially useful to me at this time. I did find that once I selected one of those special features, I was unable to undo it and shut it off without first shutting the camera off and then re-entering the menu system. I've not yet tried the video. The battery looks smallish, and I have an extra, but the specs imply that there's at least as much power as the battery of the HX100V, if not more. It would have been nice if the camera came with a harnessed lens cap. I'm not used to removing the cap and either having to palm it or pocket it. The HX100V allowed you to just remove the cap and drop it, attached to the strap, it wasn't going anywhere. Ergonomically, like all of the DSC's, this camera can't be beat, but once again, Sony manages to mess it up with a misplaced button. Somehow, they need to find a better place to put the power button, that or change the method of opening the battery/memory card hatch. A show of hands, please, for all who have turned the camera on accidentally while opening that hatch. And how many times? I thought so. Where to put it, then? How about where the MENU button is, then move the menu button back up where it was on the HX100V? If I had to buy this camera again, I certainly would. I've owned 5 cameras in 50 years: A Yashica 35mm SLR for 20 years, A Kodak DC210 was my first digital in roughly 1992, that I still have but may or may not work. After that, a Sony DSC-S60, which is still have and still works, a Sony HX100V, which I also still have and still works and now the Sony HX300B. If nothing else, I'm brand loyal, and will continue to be as long as the products give me good value for my money and accomplishes what I need them to accomplish.

Great Camera

By Geoff

Comments about Sony 20.4 MP Cyber-shot Digital Camera:

My trusty old DSC H1 stopped working after 8 years. I had taken over 28,000 pictures with it. I bought the DSC HX300 and I am extremely satisfied with it. What a lens. Easy to use and I am having a great time taking pictures. Highly recommend this camera to anyone. Better than my DSLR. You don't have to change lenses to go from close into faraway shots. Rest in peace DSC H1.

Worst camera !

By Amirk

from Undisclosed

Comments about Sony 20.4 MP Cyber-shot Digital Camera:

Very slow aperture at telephoto end. Taken away some features such as viewfinder sensor, DC current input . Only 2 megapixel boosted, slower zooming speed as compared to Hx200v, same 1/3 sensor, image quality and sharpness is lost at telephoto end, same old features. I was expecting more but this time it is worst than ever.

This is an amazing camera

By Daoco11

Comments about Sony 20.4 MP Cyber-shot Digital Camera:

I got this a few days ago. It is my 5th Sony. It is very easy to use and has incredible features. I purchased the Canon Cybershot 50X 2 weeks ago to compare the 2. Without a doubt the Sony is much more user friendly. Similar features, panorama and effects. The Sony has more and they are easier to use. The zoom goes digital as well up to 200X. I thought it was listed 50X opt and 100X dig, so good news. Certainly larger and heavier than Canon. Have to be careful with shutter button, it is very light touch and you may take a photo while trying to focus by mistake. The zoom not as fast as other Sonys. Now for the sad news, the zoom ( image ) on the Canon is better at the higher magnifications, 50x, 100x and 200x. Regular shots,Sony is excellent. I bought this to take shots of birds and the focus and clarity is just not there.Macro, flawless. Do not know what to do, thought I was a Sony customer for life. I do use a Canon T4i for portraits but wanted a quick 50X for the wildlife. I am shooting the 2 side by side hoping the Sony will win.

Comments about Sony 20.4 MP Cyber-shot Digital Camera:

to tell you the truth with this price and this specific this camera is great and exactly other competitors like nikon p520 and Canon Powershot Sx50 and Fujifilm Finepix SL1000 have same sencor size , but Sony is taking advantage of Exmor R sensor on this camera . by and large its OK for a D-SLR bridge camera

The Perfect Camera To Turn Dreams Into Reality

from Philadelphia

Comments about Sony 20.4 MP Cyber-shot Digital Camera:

Sony's motto of "Make.Believe" is one that I have been living with for a few years now. I had the HX100v for a year, and broke it, sadly, but in 1 year, I created so much content that I can enjoy. From hundreds of cloud shots, parades, family moments, monuments and many concert moments from my favorite artists. The HX300, with the 50X zoom will only make my artistic goals even more ambitious. Throw in cool artistic features (Toy Camera, miniature), 360 degree panorama, 1080p 60fps video recording, and the small convenient size, I am overwhelmed with the amount of possibilities that can be created with this camera. Now that I have every single feature I want in a camera, all I have to do is wait for the release!

make it the best cyber-shot ever

By Neill

Comments about Sony 20.4 MP Cyber-shot Digital Camera:

why still the image sensor is so small, replace it with that of RX100. several features were excluded from its previous model ie dsc hx200v, i want every feature to be included in it.if this is done it would be the best combination of dslr and point-shoot camera in the market - for professionals as well as beginners.
