Comments about Philips Neckband On Ear Headphones:

For over three years, this has been my go-to pair of headphones. I have used them for everything. They are sleek, good-looking and well-designed. Considerably rugged. Simple, elegant. No fancy bells and whistles, just the way I like it. I don't need Bluetooth, I don't need volume control on my cord. I asked for A GOOD PAIR OF HEADPHONES, THAT'S ALL I WANT. And so, it was. The SH5200 is fantastic. The "Rich Bass" moniker is no joke. I have used this pair of headphones for a wide range of purposes including music-mastering. Of course, you would expect to use a better set of headphones tailored to that sort of thing if you're a composer or DJ, but these do the job very well for small projects. I WILL say one thing: Do not expect this pair to last very long if you are using them daily, taking them everywhere. Even if you don't abuse the dB levels on your audio, they will wear out eventually. Do what I did, and buy a second pair and keep that in storage. The longest a pair of mine ever lasted was one year. I've gone through at least five pairs at the time I'm writing this. Now that I've said all that, there is a glaring question that I must know the answer to: WHY HAVE THEY SUDDENLY SKYROCKETED IN PRICE?! Only until recently, they were sold online for a very affordable price, and now they are well into hundreds of dollars. As much as I love this pair, I cannot justify buying a new pair (especially because of how many I go through). They are not at all worth that much and I will not entertain that kind of gouging from anyone. The only reasonable explanation is that this is a dying product, that perhaps Philips is discontinuing it. So, by the time you read this, it might not even be available on the market. Assuming that is the case, I can only hope Philips replaces the SH5200 with a worthy (AND AFFORDABLE) successor. Please don't kill off my favourite pair of headphones and replace it with junk. Cheers

    Not great

    By Paraplegic

    from Chicago

    Pros

    • low cost. light weight.

    Cons

    • not good at high volumes. don't seal well on ears

Comments about Philips Neckband On Ear Headphones:

I've had these for a while and they're ok for the money. They didn't come with any instructions as to how to wear them. I couldn't find any really comfortable and efficient way to wear them. Maybe my head is misshapen and large or something but I couldn't find a find a way a way to wear them where they sealed well against my ears. The "Luxurious materials" of the ear pads are not what I call luxurious. They aren't sufficient to keep the plastic off of my ears. The sound breaks up at high volumes. The bass isn't bad but I don't believe 16Hz. And neither do I believe 24KHz. I would recommend these to someone who wants low cost headphones and doesn't like to listen as loud as I do.

Good sound, good fit, low quality

      By soundmeister

      Cons

      • quality of foam

Comments about Philips Neckband On Ear Headphones:

This is my 2nd pair of the same headphones. I like the sound and the fit. They are very comfortable and light weight. The strain relief on the cord is great and has saved the head phones many times when the cord got caught. My only big complaint is the quality of the foam on the speakers. After a few years the foam became brittle. Every time I wore the headset my ears were full of black dust particles from the disintegrated foam. Due to the unique design the foam cannot be replaced easily. It seems to be glued on. If you only want to use the headphone for a few years they are great. Or you buy new ones every few years.

Comments about Philips Neckband On Ear Headphones:

I bought these headphones years ago to replace my ear-buds and they sounded fantastic. They still sound fantastic having been years later, the only degradation being that the reflective surface has been worn off completely. After years of using them in the rain, in the shower, going back and forth from use on my phone to my laptop, the sound quality is still good. And the cloth wrapped cord combined with elastic attached to the headphone has probably saved them from being broken so many times when accidentally pulling that its pretty much a miracle. Fantastic product, when I need a headphone replacement I will be ordering this exact headphone again!

Comments about Philips Neckband On Ear Headphones:

My brother took my cheap Sony neckband headphones, similar to these, so I decided to just buy a new pair, and it was definely worth it. The product has a great tone in the trebble section and bass section. I like to listen to a lot of bass sometimes and they can crank it out! No complaints so far. Have had them a while and intend on lawn mowing with them. They should have no problem lasting for many more years. They have a flexable fit, and fit perfectly. I wear glasses, and they do not interfere. Very comfortable and light weight, so comfortable I could probably wear them all day! They also have a stylish look to them. Definitely beat $200 headphones anyday.

            Durable is an understatement

            By Ceylon

            from Detroit

Comments about Philips Neckband On Ear Headphones:

I've had the same set of these headphones for at least four years, under heavy wear the whole time, and I love them. They've always given me excellent sound (and bass!) and the elastic band on the cable exit saved the cord from being ripped from the phones on too many occasions to count. Now, I can't imagine buying headphones without this feature. My first pair has finally given up the ghost in one ear after half a decade (!) but I love them, I use them, and I'm getting another pair exactly like them. :)
