Comments about Monster Home Theater PowerCenter:

I've had my HTS 1000 for about 2 years now and have not had an issue.

I immediately noticed less noise from my guitar amp and studio monitors.

As for people complaining about this failing after 6-8 years, the 5-year warranty is clearly labeled on the packaging, and if you have a receipt showing date of purchase, you're good for 5 years.

I've had this bar for 8 years. It took a big hit from Hurricane Sandy and is now buzzing it's signal of defeat. It's sad, but it saved my equipment like a soldier.

It survived so many power hits and never quit but this last one brought it to it's knees.

I will miss it and have ordered it's replacement, may it serve me as diligently as it's fallen compatriot.

Comments about Monster Home Theater PowerCenter:

I got this 8 or more years ago and still works fine. I got it to replace another lower price Monster unit that died when lightening struck my house. Miami's big on lightening. The strike destroyed my telephones, alarm system, computer, and an unprotected TV and vcr. The Monster unit protecting my home theater system was burnt at the cable input and the unit was shot but all my home theater components plugged into it were saved. I was convinced these things work. That's why I replaced it with a bigger and better Monster unit plus I bought several other units to protect various components around the house. If this unit develops a buzz I'll be happy to replace it.

Hooked up to 34" Sony XBR HDTV, HD-DVR and PS3. After 6 years of service it is now making a loud buzzing sound. For a product that runs $150-$200 I expected it to last longer. I pay good money for something because I expect it too last. I will look elsewhere for it's replacement.

Comments about Monster Home Theater PowerCenter:

Bought this about 8 years ago. Take it, this is a long time. But, woke up this morning and started to hear the "Death Buzz" that is being described on this page. Having to pull out my electronics at 6am this morning because I'm scared to death that my house will burn down is not my idea of fun. Even though this product is 8 years old, I have junky power strips made in [*] that have lasted longer. I'm not going to even bother calling Monster, as I'm sure I will be told I'm [*].

I payed [$] for this unit. Because i had a [@] employee discount. It is great, although a bit pricey. I've been using it for 3-4 years now, and havent had an issue yet. As well as power, this is also excellent for filtering coax with the coax in-out options. It completly got rid of my humming issue due to the comcast cable box not being grounded properly. It just needs to be cheaper than [$]. :)

Comments about Monster Home Theater PowerCenter:

I bought mine 12/08 & 01/09 so have been using it without any problems for 3.5 years. I bought it based on the Monster brand fror quality and high end expectations. Theer cables and power circuitry is where their engineers excel.

Was hesitant about price but I didn' pay full price. I see somepeple complain about buzzing and dying. No issues here. Plus, when I did have my power go out. The items in the HTS1000 MKIII were ok, and another item which was not - died. The MKIII is still working too.

I researched when I first bought this because I wanted the best video + audio signals for my HD TV, and home thater equipment(Onkyo receiver & Polk speakers, and all compnants are hooked up with Monster cable, and speaker wire). So I sent the following to inquiry to Monster's support:

-A satelite provider says that they send the signal at 3GHz and the HTS1000 MKIII will only pass through 1GHz and thus I would be losing quality sending it throught the Monster PowerBar (as opposed to directly to the cable/satelite box).
What is the average singal for satelite?
What is the average signal for HD cable?

To be honest I got no response at first, and after a 2nd prod they sent me this informtion:

-Current Monster Power Centers have coax pass throughs that are swept up to 3.0 Ghz. This allows for plenty of bandwidth for HD signals, true for both the HTS950 and HTS1000MKIII. For average signals levels of satellite and cable you would want to check with your local providers.

That was back in 2008 so I dont't hthink quality has gone down since then. The responce was helpful, but I was also honest about not getting one right away. I hope people find my review helpful and insightful with it's specific examples. As I try not to be a complainer or a fan boy (although I do love Monster)

Purchased to replace a 8 year old HT-700.Improved sound greatly.Got rid of hard sounding DVD's,no longer have to engage THX CINEMA on my receiver to enjoy DVD's,and Blu-Ray's are now unbelievable.l listen to a lot of classic jazz and on Miles Davis Kind of Blue CD I can now tell the difference between Cannonball Adderley's alto sax and John Coltrane's tenor sax. Now all instruments have their own space, not just a tangle mess. I'm enjoying going through my CD and movie collection and hearing all the sounds I've missed in the past. This has been my best audio or video purchase in years.
