Not at all what I expected

By LilDab

from Stockbridge , GA

Comments about KitchenAid Rotor Slicer With Shredder:

I have several kitchaid products and this is the first that I've been disappointed with. Here are a couple issues that I have with the product:
1. The housing easily gets stained.
2. I washed the two attachments I used and the next day there were rust spots on them.
3. The locking mechanism of the attachments are difficult and unsafe to remove. One of my attachments requires pliers to remove,
4. Therer is no consistency of the slices that are made.

This would be a product that I would return to the store. However, they will not accept a used item.

I think Kitchenaid should seriously consider modifying this product.

Cracked housing

By Canyon man

from Glade Park Colo.

Comments about KitchenAid Rotor Slicer With Shredder:

Bought our first kitchenaid twenty plus years ago has work flawlessly it's in the last five a crack in the house of the roto slicer/ shredder has appeared. Am hopeful that a new housing will let us shred cheese, just like it did when it was new ( here's to hoping)

Very poor product

By RN

from Nebraska

Comments about KitchenAid Rotor Slicer With Shredder:

Right out of the box I was skeptical since the blades were dull. I could not have cut myself if I'd tried. I attempted to shred lettuce and cheese and slice cucumbers and carrots for a salad. The lettuce and cucumbers turned to mush, the carrots turned to awkward chunks, the cheese was shaved in small wide pieces. The cheese would work, but was not what I expected from something advertised as a shredder. In addition, food was wasted due to large pieces getting stuck between to blades and the housing unit which led to me taking it all apart between each food item. I am very disappointed in the product and will likely never use it again. Huge waste of money. I am surprised a brand like kitchen aide would keep their name on this without remedying all the many faults in the product and the disappointed customers.

Needs better casing

By Homemaker

from Vincennes In.

Comments about KitchenAid Rotor Slicer With Shredder:

I bought this when I got my mixer about 15 years ago so I hope you've fixed the problem with the casing. Mine broke along time ago but I didn't use it much back then as I worked. I can still use it for soft items and it still works but not to slice anything like cucumbers or even celery. I don't work any more and I love to make pickles but this tears these things to pieces when you try to slice them.So I was looking on here to get a new slicer/shredder,but all I really need is the casing. I saw the reviews and though I'd add this in case it helps anyone.

Be hesitant

By Red the home chef

from Bismarck, Mo.

Comments about KitchenAid Rotor Slicer With Shredder:

I bought this attachment because the food processors chute was too small to handle whole potatoes. It was a waste of money. followed all directions and still would not shred cabbage very well-just gummed up. I trust a product with such a well-respected name would do better than this. The cones do not seem to be very sharp. save your money and invest in something else. If you email kitchen aid don't hold your breath for a response.

Casing cracked

By Pat

from Funkstown, Maryland

Comments about KitchenAid Rotor Slicer With Shredder:

I purchased the shredder many years ago. Shortly thereafter the casing cracked. I have only used it to shred zucchini and cabbage and it works fine. I have finally decided to replace it because of the broken casing. While searching for a replacement I came across these reviews and decided to provide my review even if it is years late.

Awesome attachment

By Olivia the chef wanna-be

from Phoenix

Verified Buyer

Comments about KitchenAid Rotor Slicer With Shredder:

I used the thick slicing blade for slicing carrots. It worked well. Sliced them thinner than I was aiming for, but it only took two minutes so it was worth it.
I used the shredder for cucumbers (it does say to use it for hard vegetables). It was very very messy. I ended up cutting the core of the cucumber out and it was much better. In the end I got what I needed and it took a total of 5 minutes. I am very happy with it.

Go back in time.........PLEASE!!!!

By Jeena

from Medford, OR

Comments about KitchenAid Rotor Slicer With Shredder:

My family has had A kitchenaid k5a since I was 10 yrs old--57 years ago. The rotor slicer then (as all the attachments) was just metal, no fancy wear-off/chip off white covering. I have had my own mixer for over 40 years now and about 8 years ago my family bought me the rotor slicer because I had spoken so highly of the ones I had growing up. This one is garbage! It has no slice size that works--FOR ANYTHING!!! I bake a LOT at Christmas and used my old one to chop walnuts-they came out perfectly! This one only minces them, or, even worse, turns them into powder. Also, it needs to be taken apart with vice pliers!!! Go back to the old design! PLEASE!!!

KitchenAid Rotor Slicer/Shredder

By Dee

from Arkansas

Comments about KitchenAid Rotor Slicer With Shredder:

A few days ago I purchased the KitchenAid Rotor Slicer/Shredder. I used it today and was very disappointed. Shredding for coleslaw resulted in a chopped mess more like grated. I then tried slicing carrots and there were very few nice whole slices, mostly pieces, nothing like the picture. They should be sliced, you don't chop them with an axe. I called customer service and they said they would send another and I could return this one. This resulting product indicates faulty engineering. When I purchase a product with the KitchenAid name I expect it to perform to a higher standard and not mutilate my vegetables.
