Product Overview↑ Back to Top

KitchenAid
The KitchenAid KUIC18NNZS with Clear Ice Technology provides the most preferred ice - a uniform 3/4" x 3/4" x 1/2" size and shape that is ideal for daily use or a variety of entertaining needs. The integrated filter helps to remove contaminants to help improve taste and clarity. For best results, the filter must be changed every six months. With Max Ice, ice is produced 56% faster, compared to normal mode, when ice is needed quickly. This unit holds 35 pounds of ice which ensures a generous supply of clear, fresh ice is conveniently at your fingertips. The Drop-Down Door allows a more custom installation with a design that removes the need to account for a hinge.

Nothing but problems

By Melissaw662

from Grace,MS

Comments about KitchenAid 35 Lb. Capacity Architect Series II Built-In Ice Maker:

I bought this ice maker, along with $10k worth of other Kitchenaid appliances, in 2008. It will not make ice once the storage bin gets low. It makes a loud squealing noise and smells like plastic melting. I have had the repairman out multiple times, to the tune of about $700.00 the last time. We are currently looking to replace this machine with a Scotsman. I hate to replace with another brand simply because it will not match the rest of my appliances. Since 2008, we have had to replace two other Kitchenaid appliances, a double drawer dishwasher because we could not get a service tech to come to our area and a trash compactor. New compactor isn't any better than the first one. Mother board has also gone out in my gas range. To say the least, I am totally disappointed in Kitchenaid. I have one Kitchenaid product that has not been touched by a technician. The other 4 have been nightmares.

Design flaw

By Michael

from Jackson, MS

Comments about KitchenAid 35 Lb. Capacity Architect Series II Built-In Ice Maker:

We invested over 20K in Kitchenaid appliances. We consistently have problems with the water hose from the water pan disconnecting from the dispenser. This results in water pouring into the ice bin and melting all the ice. Very very disappointing for such an expensive appliance.

Comments about KitchenAid 35 Lb. Capacity Architect Series II Built-In Ice Maker:

This ice machine replaces a GE Profile machine we had for a number of years- the compressor finally gave up. We bought this KitchenAid ice machine after considering a number of others.

We really like the fact that this machine is a lot quieter than the last unit. It appears to be much more insulated, which keeps the ice a lot longer. I'm sure this extra insulation adds to the quietness as well.

We also really like the fact this the door opens like a "bin" and not like a refrigerator door (from side to side). It gives you more room to get your ice out.

The ice this machine makes is very clear and consistent in size and shape and has a neutral taste/flavor - some of the best ice ever.

Other features not present on our old unit include a changeable water filter, and a setting for producing ice faster for those times when you want or need more ice (such as a party or filling multiple coolers).

So far, we are really satisfied with this ice machine. The store manager and sales staff at Brandsmart were very helpful in making our purchase a real pleasure.

      Ice machine problems

By Jerry the ice less man

      from Edmond,Ok

      Verified Buyer

Comments about KitchenAid 35 Lb. Capacity Architect Series II Built-In Ice Maker:

The ice maker worked for about one week and then quit. We managed to get service out about 10 days later but they said the problem was our water pressure. I checked it out and found we had good pressure and got them out again. This time they determined it was a faulty valve and would take three weeks to get one on. We are still waiting.

      Major Problems with KitchenAide Products

      By Las Vegas Fun Home

      from Henderson NV

Comments about KitchenAid 35 Lb. Capacity Architect Series II Built-In Ice Maker:

In one year, my ice maker has had the compressor rebuild TWICE, 2 service calls for Water constantly running. Cannot get the CLEAN cycle light to turn off-even the repair tech can't get it turned off. KitchenAid will not replace because it needs to be repair 4 Times before they will do anything. Well Im on number 4. Water will not stop running and interior warm. I have had company and looking for cold drinks and my ice maker does not make ice... Very Frustrating. At the same time my Kitchenware Fridge electrical board went. After 5 weeks of waiting - they advised thru email that the electrical board cannot be fixed and they advised me to buy a new fridge. Between the two I have $22,000 tied up in KitchenAide. I WIL NEVER PURCHASE ANY OF THEIR PRODUCTS. DON'T BUY THIS ICE MAKER.

Hope it lasts as long as the last one

Comments about KitchenAid 35 Lb. Capacity Architect Series II Built-In Ice Maker:

My Maytag ice maker had the nerve to fritz out after 30 years with only one service call. Hope this does as well. The ice is the same, and this one is way quiter. The fact that the filter is in the machine freed up a cabinet for other uses. So far I love it. Having all the ice you need makes these Texas summers tolerable.
