KitchenAid
This KitchenAid KXD4636YSS-SS retractable downdraft vent rises 14 inches to help filter steam from tall stockpots, and remains flush with the cooking surface when not in use. The 600 CFM Pro Motor has the power to provide effective venting for most cooktops or ranges. The vent system is reversible to help fit in the cabinet space under the vent.

Nice Looking unit

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Centrifugal Downdraft System:

The draft is very weak for such a large unit. Everything operates well it just does not remove steam or smoke while cooking

Looks cool but not reliable

By Geronimo

from St. Louis

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Centrifugal Downdraft System:

Mostly works but had an issue or two, the first fixed under warranty in the first year, the second I recently heard from the repair company the these things are junk. It's a 1.5-2 hour job to remove it and replace the switch that frequently fails. In short, the wow factor is there but the quality/reliability is not.

Awful

By Lynn

from Mt. Airy, MD

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Centrifugal Downdraft System:

Worked just OK for the most part on high which is very, very loud. Always had to help "lift" the unit to the upright position since day one. Was cleaning it today and pulled the filters when the unit closed on me and I cannot get it to raise back up. Of course it's out of warranty. Would NOT recommend to others.

Good Purchase

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Centrifugal Downdraft System:

A definite improvement over my 26 year old builder-installed KitchenAid downdraft system. Sleek looks and MUCH quieter. Not sure any of these downdraft systems are a true replacement for actual vent hoods, but given my kitchen configuration it's all I can have.

36' Retractable Downdraft System 600 CFM

By RC

from Denver CO

Verified Buyer

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Centrifugal Downdraft System:

When we opted for an electric cooktop in our new house, we were not aware it came with the downdraft system. But we're very happy with the exhaust system - vents down and out so there are no overhead intrusions. Three speeds, quickly raises and lowers. Relatively quiet - same as an overhead system. We'd do it again!

Less than thrilled

By Dpeters

from Grand Junction, CO

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Centrifugal Downdraft System:

You must always push the button twice to make the unit rise and sometimes three times to make it retract. Not sure why this is. Also the fan is very noisy and doesn't move enough air if you are cooking on the "burners" that are not right beneath the exhaust.

Lousy Brand

By Football Mom

from South Kingstown, RI

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Centrifugal Downdraft System:

I just remodeled my kitchen 18 months ago and purchased ALL kitchenAid applicances stainless Steel. The fridge is rusting and seal is breaking ($2500 purchase) which KitchenAid refuses to do anything about. The downdraft is rusting which is causing it to get stuck and not automatically raise and lower. It started rusting within 9 months of use. This brand is junk and over priced. KitchenAid does not support their products. I will never recommend or purchase this brand.

Love that the vents go into the dishwasher. Just wish the unit would go down while the vents are being washed.
