Trouble with blade

By doug the farmer

from Middle Tenn.

Comments about KitchenAid 3.5 Cup Food Chopper:

Thought I got a good chopper, as wife has some other good Kitchen Aid products. She loves to cook and teaches our 2 adopted granddaughters to cook "from scratch" so she needs a good chopper. Any way this unit is 6 months old and blade won't stay on shaft, when it works it chops great, but can't keep it chopping.

Looks very pretty but is very decieving

By STEVEONY

from Rochester, NY

Comments about KitchenAid 3.5 Cup Food Chopper:

I Ordered this chopper a week ago and was very excited about getting it as it is my first food processor. I chose this small 3.5 cup as I live alone and only cook for 1 or 2 and the many color options. Looks very nice and is name brand but it doesnt seem like much real world testing went into this product. Only pro so far is appearance. First thing I noticed is that the decieving "additive" port is just a tiny hole for adding liquid that you pour on the outside of the lid and drizzles to the inside dust and all. Second thing I found that is the cord length is barely 23 inches long, try moving that around a counter top. There is a cord keeper on the bottom but not enough room for the entire cord because the first 7 inches still hangs out. Next I realized the lid, base, and blade are very difficult to detach. The 2 speed push buttons are part of the cover that flow through the chopping bowl and activate the motor as a safety feature. The lid has a funky ramping action that doesnt really help anything as you can lock and remove the lid before it even comes to this ramping deal. I played around with the lid a bit and if it isnt on all the way the chop button can still activate the puree mode switch(I scratched my head on that one) Up next the blade is difficult to remove when the bowl is still installed wich I get but they extended it to hit the inside of the cover to restrict up and down movement so it wont disengage the motor shaft. Now after the external review we get to throw some ingredients in....HUGE dissapointment! First few pulses everything is slung and stuck to the wall of the bowl...now what? Get out the spatula and scrape it off right? The blade doesnt move because its attached to the motor so scrape around it. Pulse scrape pulse scrape pulse scrape...liquid additive is sitting in the bottom not blending with the solids...pulse scrape pulse scrape ok now we are just playing the game take the lid off every time. By now the lid is broken in enough to twist open on its own from vibration and bouncing up and down on the counter tetherd to the wall by its short cord..fun game. Now we shall attempt to take apart and wash the dirty parts. Great there are 4 springs, a screw and internal moving parts on the bowl and lid not to mention the blade could slice open a wet hand in the blink of an eye. Good luck rinsing out all that soapy water, and forget about hand drying all that water you can still see inside there #1yearwarrany...just my 2 cents. Guess you get what you pay for no matter the brand

I like it at first but then...

By Marisa Martinez

from Miami, Fl

Comments about KitchenAid 3.5 Cup Food Chopper:

When I bought it it worked pretty well, I was very happy, chopped and purée everything without any problem, but now, it's been 6 months since I first used it and started having problems, mostly the blades gets stuck when trying to chop ( I even tried with 3 or 4 spinach leaves and it still does it) tried to contact customer service several times but without any response, I don't know what to do with it, very disappointed.

Comments about KitchenAid 3.5 Cup Food Chopper:

I bought this food processor as it has two functions to chop and blend. It was a good size for baking like chopping graham biscuits. I am able to blend food to purée. Was happy to get this product which was easy to clean and disassemble.
