I loved it, right up until the glass was cracked

By Rick

from Seattle

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Electric Cooktop:

This was a great cooktop, until I had the misfortune of cracking the glass. Good ratings overall, but 1 star for quality not because it is poorly made, but because it can't be maintained.

It appears that Kitchenaid is not capable of providing a replacement part (I've waited 7 weeks and the part remains on indefinite back order).

So be warned, the cooktop will be great right up until something goes wrong -- and then it will be a very expensive countertop.

Homebrewing a Hit!

By Dianilein

from Seattle, WA

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Electric Cooktop:

The inaugral Kitchen Aid event for our family was our "home-brew-a-rama". Father & daughter spent an afternoon cooking up several batches of homemade beer for our summer family reunion. The heating was better than they could have imagined. Using the bridge heating feature, they were able to keep heat even and consistant while the pot bubbled happily away.

Defective from Factory

By Karen

from Dallas, TX

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Electric Cooktop:

I bought this cooktop in 2013. I noticed immediately that cooking on it was different but, I attributed that to not using induction before. After a while, I started to suspect that something was not completely right. I had an authorized service rep come take a look and it turns out that the middle burner had been miss-wired in the factory. That accounted for the problems we had been experiencing. I was told that there was a "service pointer" related to this mistake so, must mean that it has happened before. I contacted Kitchenaid and told them that this was a mistake in the factory before it was installed and they refused to cover the cost to have it wired correctly. They essentially told me that it was my problem and that their happy for me that it's now working correctly??? What? What a joke. Be careful!

Failing after 10 months of use

By Mike

from Chester Springs PA

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Electric Cooktop:

Purchased in Nov of 2014; however, I didn't install use until July 2015 due to construction delays. Cooktop worked fine for 6 months, then the random error codes started; shutting down unit. The error codes indicate a surface overheating condition (C2); this happens when the burners are at Medium (5-7). How exactly does an induction surface get too hot??? The pans get hot, not the surface. We even followed the crazy installation instructions by cutting ventilation slots for the cooling fans in the cabinet below during installation.

I spent $8K on Kitchenaid's higher end series products for our house. After 10 months of use, I'm not too happy with the quality.

Wall Oven - KEMS309BSS - OK
Two Dishwashers - KDTE504DSS - One with a failed LCD screen
Cooktop - KICU569XSS - See Above
Cooktop Ventilation - KVWB606DSS - Missing screws, Kitchenaid refused to send - the screws were not available as a separate part number. On 2 occasions it has shut off spontaneously with no response from buttons.

Heating Element Cool Down Feature

By Larry

from Mn

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Electric Cooktop:

This is my 3rd. induction cook top. The cool to touch is one of the reasons I like induction cooking, however there is an issue with this model's cool down feature. It feels hot to touch and it take a longer time to cool down.

Induction Cooking

By Lee

from Youngstown, Ohio

Verified Buyer

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Electric Cooktop:

I love induction cooking. this is my second cooktop. I preferred the hybrid type, but it was not available. This Kitchenaid has a feature I do not like, I cannot see where the burners are, they are not clearly marked I have to pick up the pots and pans constantly after stirring to see if they are in the right part of circle and most of the time they are not.

terrible - don't buy

By dissatisfied customer

from honolulu, hawaii

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Electric Cooktop:

If I could give zero stars I would. The large burner in the center only heats a 5" circle in the center of my pan. I called to have it serviced and was told that Kitchenaid has said this is normal operation. I very rarely provide reviews so the fact that I have provided this one shows I am very unhappy with this product

Fast cooking; slow customer service

By Custom General Contractor

from Pinehurst, NC

Verified Buyer

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Electric Cooktop:

I bought this cooktop seven months ago, and love the speed and control it offers when working. However, the cooktop quit working two weeks ago, and the customer service response from KitchenAid/Whirlpool has been very disappointing. I have been told that the parts are on backorder, indicating a design flaw, and that it could be three more weeks until they come in. Additionally, if the parts fail to fix the problem, replacing the unit could take as long as long as six weeks. Given the customer service that KitchenAid/Whirlpool deems adequate, I would recommend spending your money elsewhere.
