Bad Griddle

By Amber Green

from Childress, Tx

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Gas Cooktop:

The only reason I can't recommend this rangetop is because of the griddle. It takes for-ev-er to heat up, and then isn't very hot after you wait for 40 mins. I wish I had just bought the 6 burner rangetop and then the cast iron griddle to use when I wanted. It's very frustrating to pay for a beautiful rangetop and then be disappointed :( ...I'm very happy with everything else about the range.

Powerful & Gorgeous

By Alyssa

from Covina, CA

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Gas Cooktop:

This stove top has 4 different sized burners and is very powerful. I believe it fulfills all cooking needs. The center griddle is also very handy but does take a bit to get hot. Once heated, however, it is a wonderful tool. Do read through the the proper cleaning instruction to ensure a long lasting appliance.

In Love!

By SDJames

from Benton, LA

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Gas Cooktop:

I am in love with this commercial style range-top! First of all, it's very stylish and lends a great look to our kitchen. But most importantly, it's so functional...with the burner settings for various options (i.e.: low heat for sauces, etc) and the griddle a HUGE bonus for our family...clean up is so simple!

Responsive

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Gas Cooktop:

Have had this gas stove top only a few weeks. So easy to turn on, even distribution. Have used griddle several times to heat naan and tortillas... works well. Let it cool all the way down before cleaning. Right now I need to buff with soft cloth after using soapy sponge to get the new look back all the way.

Pros: Burners work great and the area around the burners are easy to clean. Cons: the electric griddle takes Forever to heat, temperature is off from setting, and the unit requires an hour to clean.

Ultimately a DISAPPOINTMENT

By Bill Garver

from Franklin, OH

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Gas Cooktop:

The gas burner performance is satisfactory. The Even-Heat™ Chrome Electric "Griddle" though is such a let down in not only maintaining but also performance. I can deal with the maintaining appearance aspect. I crank the "griddle" up to 500 on the dial. 40 minutes later, I get a temp reading of 156 degrees on my (calibrated) IR temp gun. 156 degrees??!! What the hell can I do with a 156 degree griddle besides barely melt butter?

Electric Griddle is a nightmare

By Sick and disgusted

from Fort Smith, Ar

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Gas Cooktop:

I have the unit with the Even-Heat Chrome Electric Griddle and everything sticks and is a nightmare to clean. I called and did not receive a good solution to the problem. This unit is too expensive to not work properly.

By Teri71

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Gas Cooktop:

Just built a new house with all Kitchenaid appliances. This cooktop is first class! I love the look, the size and the use! I haven't used the griddle yet, but the burners are super. There are different sizes for different cooking needs. I love it!

Looks GREAT.....BWTM......

By Cat Daddy

from Sparta, TN, United States

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Gas Cooktop:

Had all KITCHENAID appliances installed in my brand new home. Love the quality but have a few "issues" that should not be in a + $3,000 cooktop.

First - The Griddle is a BEAR to clean and almost impossible to use without food sticking to the surface. While any food that contains grease will cook fine... MAN-O-MAN....what a mess to clean. A Blanchard cooking surface would transform the cooktop. Further...you have to cover the surface when cooking on the burners because it will get covered with anything that splatters out of a pot or pan. Many crevices and mating surfaces for food to lodge in that makes it even more difficult to clean.

Second - Only the flame on the largest burner can be adjusted down low enough for a super-low-simmer. The small simmer burner....uh....NOT! Whatever you place on that burner...in the lowest flame position....will boil. Don't get me wrong. The materials and workmanship are TOP NOTCH but the design and functional usefulness is a real head scratcher. I love to cook and am getting along OKAY but would be so much more enjoyable if I didn't have to deal with all of this.

If I had it to do over, I would NOT order with the griddle. It looks great but simply ain't worth it to use. I will be experimenting to find a way to use it because it is a fantastic idea and would be extremely helpful in many instances.
