Indicator Light

By Unhappy

from Colorado

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Gas Cooktop:

Even though I like the stovetop the grates are so high that when a burner is on low you can't see the flame. Consequently if you leave it on by mistake you'll never know it because there is no indicator light to tell you the burner is still on. I've had stovetops for 40 years and never left a burner on thanks to the indicator light. Unfortunately I've left this one on several times.
This week I left it under a teapot with no water in it then went out. Thankfully I was back in an hour and noticed it. Now I know it's not Kitchenaids fault I left the burner on but that one little addition would help prevent a fire one day. Until I bought this I had never mistakenly left a burner on because of lights telling me it is on. I would return it if I could for this one reason.

4 out 5 Burners are wasted

By T. Abraham

from Mckinney, TX

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Gas Cooktop:

This cooktop came with the new construction home we bought. The build is sturdy but like everyone else has pointed out here the flames do not reach the vessels and it takes extremely long to cook. Kitchen aid / Whirlpool can help by designing grates that are not this tall as replacement (recall) to all owners - having grates that are closer to the flame will help with even spreading of heat and reduce wastage. Please provide an alternative.

A good thing to say is about this cook top is the center burner - the flame kind of rises straight up in the mid-setting and bunches together for a quick heating. Could you provide burner tops for all other (4) burners to have a similar flame.

Customer care team - please note that this is feedback for product improvement not to simply bash the product

I love my KitchenAid

By Texas DeeDee

from Gainesville, Texas

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Gas Cooktop:

i have a KitchenAid Gas on Glass cooktop that I purchased 16 years ago, I am thinking about buying it again just because I am about to change out my counter tops and want the same appliance. It has been great and except for the grates showing some wear it still looks like it did 16 years ago.

Disappointed

By Jay Enjoy cooking

from Cary, NC

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Gas Cooktop:

I got this stove with new construction. I paid premium price for this stove upgrade with the expectation based on BTU/ better performance. But actually I am disappointed with its performance.
1. The burner grate is too high, I don't get rolling boiling water on corner burners even after 10 minutes. 2. All my cookware are higher quality. When using small sized cookware on small burner, you can't mix your food, because it will burn your skin. Basically heat is wasted instead of cooking food. 3. You can't use front & back burner at the same time on same side, because they are too close & there is no enough space to have your cookwares.. poor design. 4. Both front burners are 10k BTU, but you can't use wider cookware, it stays too close to control knob - again poor design. 5. one star for its look & 1 star for easy cleaning. But I paid too much for this stove with poor performance & design.

Love the Cooktop....Not Customer Service!

By Love Cooktop / Not Customer Service

from Houston, TX

Verified Buyer

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Gas Cooktop:

I love the KitchenAid 5-Burner Gas Cooktop. BUT, I don't like their customer service! My journey started mid-January 2016 when my former cooktop had a problem. KitchenAid worked with me to replaced it (and I'm thankful for that), HOWEVER, it took a month to get the replacement ordered and finally delivered; but then the journey continued...when they called me to say they had NO ONE under contract in the entire city of Houston, TX to install a GAS Cooktop (REALLY!). They said I needed to find a certified installer to uninstall my old cooktop and then install my new cooktop. They offered to reimburse me (thank you), but now it's April, and I still have no payment after 6 weeks into this process. I had no choice but to locate and hire an installer b/c I had already paid for the cooktop. When the work was completed, I called (and called and called) asking my customer service Rep.....where and to whom do I send my receipt for reimbursement. Finally after 2 weeks, I got a reply. I sent in my receipt and now after 4 weeks, I still have not received reimbursement. I find it incredible that Kitchenaid has NO installers for a Gas Cooktop in all of Houston, TX. And now, it's more concerning that I have not been reimbursed for the expense (after being promised the check is on the way) after 4 weeks. I'm very happy with my cooktop (the design, function, look, etc.), BUT I'm not happy with their customer service. They take weeks to call back and all representatives are very un-apologetic for all this hassle (saying things like,...it's just the way it is). The cooktop is very good for a busy cook who has a lot to manage at one time. I've found liquid spills while cooking won't run into the gas burner because the design of the burners (shape and seal) is an improvement over my former cooktop. I especially like the double gas burner in the middle. Some reports I read indicated a problem with length of time for water to boil. But I've not experienced any issues with that(especially if you put a lid on the pot).
Overall, I love the 5-burner cooktop, but frankly I don't like their customer service....every Rep. is obviously trained to say 'we are sorry' or when you ask for a supervisor, they say....'I am a supervisor', so you'll have to talk to a supervisor of a supervisor (I guess) to get anywhere if you're not happy with customer service. Sincerely From....Love my Cooktop, Don't Love Customer Service!

The racks are too tall.

By Disappointed Buyer

from Seattle WA

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Gas Cooktop:

Just had this installed to replace a 30 Inch cooktop. After spending money to cut the granite to install larger and better performing cooktop, it totally backfired on me and I am worse off than before. The fire is nowhere near the pot bottom and it does not heat well. I bought Kitchenaid to match all my other appliances but if all kitchen cooktops are designed this way, I have made a bad mistake. Not sure if i can purchase shorter racks or not. Can someone help on this?
