The Good and the Bad

By Tvjake

Comments about GE 36" Gas Cooktop:

The numbers on ours are wearing off also..that is really irritating. We also have one burner that is "touchy". Other than that it's been a decent appliance

Poor Design

By miliwill

Comments about GE 36" Gas Cooktop:

This sounds petty, but after a few years, the numbers indicating the flame level wear off. The numbers are on the surface, there is no indentations to "repaint". GE does not offer a repair kit. Additionally we have had problems since it was new with one of the burners not lighting.

Never Again

Comments about GE 36" Gas Cooktop:

All of the GE Profile series, this one really missed the boat. surface hard to keep clean, burner placement limits use of larger pans and grates are chipping.

Looks nice, easy to clean.

Comments about GE 36" Gas Cooktop:

We moved into a new house. The appliances are 4 years old. I don't know how much cooking the previous residents did, but the range is surprisingly clean. And so far the messes I've made, cleaned up very easily. I can tell that the grates are a little sticky with grease but it's not bad. I'll figure out how to clean them better. My only complaint is that it takes a few quick turns between gas and igniter before it lights. I shouldn't have to smell gas before it lights. This sometimes happens. I like the Power Boil feature. I like that I can also get to a very low simmer although below about setting 2, I lose resolution. In other words, no gradual adjustment seems to be happening until it's all the way down. I like the rubber pads under the grate feet--no clanging when I put them on the granite counter to clean the stainless steel.
