Comments about KitchenAid 28.6 CuFt French Door Refrigerator:
We've had this refrigerator for about a month, so I have a pretty good feel for it now. We got the model with the grey interior, which is pretty cool looking, but I'm still getting used to it after a lifetime of white refrigerator interiors. That was a $200 extra - not sure I would do it again. It seems to make it look cleaner inside, but that may be because our old fridge got dirty easily. This fridge is very large, so we have more space and less clutter, which also makes it look cleaner. I was really planning on purchasing the model that has the separate drawer for deli, drinks, etc. because we do have kids, but we decided on this one because the door bins on the other model were much smaller on the ice maker side. I still liked the idea of that drawer, and the con that goes along with this one is that both doors need to be opened to get to the full-width deli drawer.
We don't really use a lot of ice, but it seems to work just fine. I can see what others said that it takes a while to make ice, so plan ahead for parties. I did the whole water and ice cycling before drinking and it all tasted fine after that. The automatic measured water dispensing is very cool - so rather than standing there pushing your cup under the dispenser, you can just program 16oz or whatever, press go and walk away. It would be even a little cooler if the measurements were exact and you could do 1/4 CUP or something so that you could use it for recipes.
We can already tell that the veggie crisper is working well - things seem to be lasting longer - it has some special filter to remove the gasses that fruit and veggies produce, so that may be it.
The freezer drawers are laid out pretty well, although I wish there was a little more light down there - a white interior would probably help this.
Some say that this fridge is noisy. I wouldn't say noisy, but it isn't silent. I'm fine with the noise level.
Overall, very nice - we're happy with it.
