Comments about Yamaha 560 Watt 7.1 Channel Audio/Video Receiver:

I've had it for 2 weeks. Does everything that I need. I have Directv and a 3D blu ray player hooked up to the receiver with one cable going to the TV. The 3D and blu ray movies sound/look great, and the sound was greatly improved when watching Directv. Plenty of settings, for me, to adjust manually. I don't find the menu's hard to navigate. I do wish the remote had a backlight, as I watch TV with low/no lights. It's not the latest and greatest, but those cost considerably more. It's exactly what I wanted...a reasonably priced receiver that works well for my setup. So far I am impressed with this receiver.

Comments about Yamaha 560 Watt 7.1 Channel Audio/Video Receiver:

This is a very nice amp/receiver. It works well and has way more features than I will ever use. I can control the unit with my Android tablet through an app. That's pretty cool. I like the Internet Radio feature. Changing the sound processing gives different types of sounds (movies vs music etc.) a different feel.
My only complaint/problem with this unit is an ongoing problem with HDMI handshaking. When changing from one device to another sometimes the devices don't properly synchronize and the TV gets no signal. This is a known problem for the Yamahas. The solution generally is to turn everything off and then restart everything in the proper order (TV, AVR, external devices).

Comments about Yamaha 560 Watt 7.1 Channel Audio/Video Receiver:

I really like this receiver because it was fairly straightforward to setup (although speaker posts pose a challenge if you connect with straight wire) and sounds very good in the room with plenty of power. All my devices connected and worked without issue (HTPC, bluray, roku, HDTV). Airplay for music works great, but as others have said, no Airplay video pass-through. This probably isn't a deficiency, probably an Apple restriction. As others have said, the remote is a bit of a challenge. The receiver is missing HD Radio, but who listens to radio anymore? My biggest complaint is the on-screen menu. It's completely useless compared to the rx-v673, which I also own. It would also be nice if this were a true multi-zone amp, but it isn't and it says so in the specs. Bottom line, the most important aspect of a receiver is its sound and its integration with other AV components. This receiver excels in these two key competencies. Highly recommended, but if you can afford the rx-v673, you should make the step up to get true multi-zone amp and a much better setup experience.

Comments about Yamaha 560 Watt 7.1 Channel Audio/Video Receiver:

I use this product for gaming and tv. Things i would like to see would be a dumbed down reciever. I will never use the internet radio really or airplay. They should create a cheap audiophile version like they do with car stereo recievers. Also i have a windows phone so no support for the app. I love how the yamaha looks and works. On screen display just which it had more power and less app stuff

Has many features I will probably never use, but does everything I need and does it well for a reasonable price. Supplies all audio capability for my family room home theater and TV. I replaced a (fully functional and more expensive) 2004-era AV receiver to gain AirPlay and network connectivity features, especially the remote app. Great unit.

Comments about Yamaha 560 Watt 7.1 Channel Audio/Video Receiver:

Great receiver, My only beef is the fact that you have to switch inputs on the TV when you have a device that is using component video(as opposed to HDMI) One would think that as advanced as this unit is that it would put ALL video inputs out the HDMI output. Other than that, this is an absolutely STELLAR unit that will produce astounding sound image and would be an asset to anybody's home theater setup.

Comments about Yamaha 560 Watt 7.1 Channel Audio/Video Receiver:

Inexcusable that a receiver in this timeframe does not come STANDARD with RDS and HD Radio! Read the cons for the rest of the MIA features. This unit is half baked, but there could be potential if Yamaha adds the misses in my cons section. The system is underpowered for my Polk RTiA9 and matching surround w/sub (7.1 setup).

Overall, a good entry-level system, but not as good as it should be for the price, IMHO.

Comments about Yamaha 560 Watt 7.1 Channel Audio/Video Receiver:

I used it to power my 40' x 150' screen it pool for my outdoor movie theater with BenQ projector + Yamaha outdoor speakers and 12" Sub. I was worry at first if this thing have enough power for outdoor enviroment. Let me say that it has plenty of power without breaking the bank. The iPhone app is great which allow me full control of the system outside white the receiver is inside. I also have a Pioneer receiver for my indoor system, the Yamaha app is definetly superior to the Pioneer app. The scene buttons are a great design (wife friendly feature for sure). My only knock is that I have strange performance from the HDMI video. The HDMI output is connected to the SH910 BenQ projector and the HDMI1 input is connected to the PS3 mostly for BluRay movie. The movie would play fine, usually after the movie is over and I am at the main PS3 menu, the projector would start flashing (like camera flash) every so often. At first I thought it was the projector and/or the HDMI cable/connection so I change out the HDMI cables and double check all connection to make sure it's all secure (the projector is ceiling mount so it certainly wasn't moved while playing the movie). The problem comes back the next time I finished watching the movie so I decided just to power cycle the Yamaha receiver...and BOOM the problem went away. Whenever I have the 'flashing' screen symptoms I would power cycle the receiver and the problem went away. It's not a problem right now because it usually last the whole movie without problem. It seem to happen when I switch video source or exit the movie to the PS3 flash screen. I hope it's not a persistent problem. Other than the HDMI problem, I love this receiver but this can potentially a big problem because I use it primarily for watching TV and movie.
