Quality is amazing, support not so much...

By HenryS

from Florida

Comments about Sony 3D 55" Class Bravia 1080P 240HZ LED Smart HDTV With Wi-Fi:

I have long been a supporter and user of Sony AV (& TV) Products. I have this TV hooked up to a Sony STR_DA3500ES. It knows when the TV and stereo are both on (connecting via HDMI) and detects remote audio connection disabling the internal speakers. I had a calibration issue with the set and, luckily, was able to resolve it myself, updating the software in the set and its input selection. However, the support people are another matter. I downgrade the overall ratings due to their stupidity (online assistance/chat) and lack of phone support (waited on the phone for 30 minutes before giving in to online chatting). Too bad.

Comments about Sony 3D 55" Class Bravia 1080P 240HZ LED Smart HDTV With Wi-Fi:

After having some issues with two other models, I finally purchased the Sony and have been very pleased with it. I loved the Samsung but it pixelated in less than a month and the Sharp just didn't have a great picture. Took a little while to complete set up but nothing major. Sony is a little more expensive but I guess you get what you pay for.

Comments about Sony 3D 55" Class Bravia 1080P 240HZ LED Smart HDTV With Wi-Fi:

The quality and clarity of the picture on HD and SD is unbelievably great. I was skeptic about 3D TVs before buying this one. It all changed once I started viewing the 3D programs. This has many technological advantages over earlier Sony XBR TVs. It is very easy to instal and getting access to internet programs like You Tube, Yahoo etc. is just a child's play. You will be happy with your purchase as I am now with this TV and also was before with my earlier Sony XBR TV.

Comments about Sony 3D 55" Class Bravia 1080P 240HZ LED Smart HDTV With Wi-Fi:

terrific picture, motion flow much improved. sound quality is well below xbr standard of my other sony's, had to purchase a sound bar to compensate. gorilla glass creates reflection in some light conditions.

      Stick With Sony

      By BadgerFan

Comments about Sony 3D 55" Class Bravia 1080P 240HZ LED Smart HDTV With Wi-Fi:

Well, I started out my new TV search by getting the Samsung UN55D8000Y. I wish I had listened to the bad reviews. Right out of the box, I had problems with clouding and bleeding, so i returned it. I chose the XBR after having many good years with Sony products. This TV has been amazing so far. The picture quality was not as good as the Samsung's at first, until I played with the settings for a while, then the true picture potential came out. I have a Denon receiver, which the XBR works well with.

      Best TV!

      By SunFamily

      from from Michigan

Comments about Sony 3D 55" Class Bravia 1080P 240HZ LED Smart HDTV With Wi-Fi:

This TV is the best! We highly recommend it. Set up is a breeze! We took our time looking and comparing, and reading a lot of information about 3D TVs, and right out of the box this Sony XBR55HX929 proved our choice to be the right one. The intense detail and color in the pictures for TV, movie, and 3D viewing is phenomenal and beyond anything we could have imagined. The 3D glasses (battery) have comfortably fit all ages quite well (so far, age 8 through adult); including over prescription eyeglasses. Buy high speed cables for best results. It has a no-glare screen. The TV speakers are just fine and we have not found them to be any less powerful than our prior analog TV - we often run TV shows without powering up additional speakers. Side angle viewing is never going to be the same as sitting in front of the TV, but the little bit of fading that can be noticed is not significant by any means. Syncs well with the PS3 but in order to charge the DualShock controllers, the TV has to be on (for us, this is not a consumer friendly feature and is a significant flaw because sometimes you just want to charge a controller but not have the TV on). The only two cons are: 1) the lack of it having a screen saver (a wonderful feature that is surprisingly missing); 2) Closed Caption does not come on when "mute" is pushed (a great feature on our prior TV, especially when a word or sentence spoken by an actor is muffled, it was easy to go back and mute and see the words). With the Sony TV, the CC has to be specifically turned on and off through a menu. Unfortunately, such features or lack of them can only be discovered after buying a product; however, none of the cons would prevent us from buying this TV again!

Truly the Best of the Best

      By Jude3

Comments about Sony 3D 55" Class Bravia 1080P 240HZ LED Smart HDTV With Wi-Fi:

If you want the best TV on the market, look no further. This TV has stunning picture quality and better than any other TV that I have seen. The TV looks great in my living room with its slim design and brushed aluminum finish on the stand and around the edges. One thing to consider is that the speakers on this TV are kind of weak and i recommend having an external sound system of some sort. This TV has many built in apps and internet features. Also, this TV gets better and better because of the updates it automatically receives. The last update brought facebook, twitter, and Youtube HD. Youtube looks great on this TV with the new update. I'm so happy with my purchase and I recommend this Tv to anyone looking for the Best TV with all the bells and whistles and is willing to pay the premium price for it.

      First 3D experience

      By jkmw

      from mbw@verizon.net

Comments about Sony 3D 55" Class Bravia 1080P 240HZ LED Smart HDTV With Wi-Fi:

This set is the most realistic TV I have ever watched. The black and white levels are unheard of in a set this 'inexpensive'. Still pricey, no doubt about it, but until now you had to pay twice, even three times the price to get this kind of realism, #compared with this sets' latest sale price#. 3D REALLY works and is very enjoyable....It still takes a bit of getting used to, #it's not a prefect process yet#, but it is vastly superior to "old fashioned" 3D during which you had to wear red and blue colored lenses. The newer 3D process still has problems with things like words and detailed images and I found my eyes and brain trying to make sense out of parts of a screeen image that just aren't right yet. This can cause eye strain and headaches. When I stopped trying to resolve these areas and enjoyed the overall effect, I found the new process to be very effective. Regarding the off-axis bloom, I find virtually none of this within our measured 7' wide seating area about 9' back from the screen, this equates to a viewing angle of about 20 degrees on either side of perpendicular. If there is one weakness, it's the sound. Very narrow frequency response and NO bass. I use a sound bar to bring viewing and listening pleasure up to equal levels. The image on this set is inspiring and in my estimation is worth the current sale price.

      Superb Picture, But.....

      By jantravlz

      from Arizona

Comments about Sony 3D 55" Class Bravia 1080P 240HZ LED Smart HDTV With Wi-Fi:

We had enjoyed our Sony 40" LCD for 6 years and needed to upgrade. Looked at the televison in dark stores prior to purchase, but did not realize that the gorilla glass reflects all light sources in the room. My husband has glaucoma and requires abundant light in all rooms at night. Thus the reflections ruin the beautiful picture, at night and during days, with lots of windows in our home. Also, the PIP and twin pictures are not available without an external source, such as an antenna. This is not truth in advertising to say that these features are part of the set, when they require a totally different accessory. Also, we are not young techies. A paper manual should be provided for all purchases. It took time to figure out the imanual and the other complex remote features. For such an expensive televison, we are disappointed.
