Product Overview↑ Back to Top

Bose®
With the Bose® CineMate® 520 home theater system, you’ll enjoy the beauty and power of true surround sound.

The CineMate 520 system looks as good as it sounds. The five Direct/Reflecting® Series II speakers have been redesigned with a slimmer profile and can be mounted flush to the wall, so they match flat-panel TVs. The wireless Acoustimass® module provides impactful bass even if you hide it out of sight behind furniture. The ADAPTiQ® audio calibration system adjusts sound based on each speaker’s location and your room’s unique size and shape.

The CineMate 520 system is easy to use. A small control console offers simple access to settings and displays which source you’ve selected. Four HDMI™ inputs ensure high-quality audio from connected sources. Its HDMI output to the TV supports Audio Return Channel (ARC), eliminating the need for an additional audio cable for TVs that support ARC. And a universal remote is included to simplify your everyday experience, working with the control console to offer easy access to your favorite entertainment.

The CineMate 520 system is flexible, too. It’s compatible with 4K video, so if you own an Ultra HD TV, you can easily add Bose sound. And with the optional SoundTouch™ wireless adapter (sold separately) you can enjoy music more effortlessly than ever before. Wirelessly stream Internet radio, music services and your music library at the touch of a button over an existing home Wi-Fi® network.

Best in Class

By Surround Sound in Phoenix

Comments about Bose® CineMate® 520 Home Theater System:

I've always wanted a really nice surround sound system. I'm not an audio file freak or purest, just an average guy that likes quality music and watches movies and sports. My wife and I built a beautiful new home with 12' high ceilings and concrete floors, which is a very difficult acoustical situation. My plan was to get a Sonos wireless system because I read all of the reviews, and after moving in I did just that. Boy, what a mistake! The technology was great and it had easy hook ups, but the sound was so bad. (The reason to have a sound system right?) After some time on the phone with their tech support, they could just not do anything to handle my difficult acoustic situation. I returned it and got the 520 because a few friends have Bose and love their systems. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. Set up was easy and it has a calibration process to match your room acoustics to the system. IT REALLY WORKS. The Bose app is not quite as user friendly as the Sonos and I do have cables but the quality of the sound is a thousand times better...and a few hundred dollars less.

Excellent sound, Small footprint, small issues

By Aquil0

Comments about Bose® CineMate® 520 Home Theater System:

Sound quality to size ratio is excellent, especially when compared to my old component setup... would buy again! There are a few small issues tho which would make this a 5 * review if they didn't exist... - No free to air Radio tuner (must buy a Soundtouch for Internet radio. I fully recommend doing this) - When paired with soundtouch will not pick up my WD NAS. - Xbox One has limited support (PS4 is all good) - Only one Optical Input which is taken if your TV doesn't support HDMI ARC - Has proprietary connectors on both ends of the speaker cables, which means you either need to run new Bose cable in the walls OR splice the proprietary connectors with your existing cabling. - Proprietary wall mounts are expensive for what they are. - Bose universal remote doesn't offer the same functionality as my TV remote once they are paired (Cant view TV guide on my Samsung la46f81bdx) - No white speaker version :(

Cons

  • Confusing Remote
  • Incomplete Remote Functio
  • Too Slow Response

Best Uses

  • Living Room
  • Movies
  • Television Shows

Comments about Bose® CineMate® 520 Home Theater System:

For enjoyment of music, movies and TV programs in general.
It has great quality sound, worthy of its brand and the speakers are as good they always have been by Bose.
My only observation in a negative manner would be against the remote control that it came with. It does not have enough functions to perform well. The timing between the pressing of a button in the remote and the equipment's response is a bit slow and laggard, not good for the quality speakers it comes with.
Yet, I would heartily recommend it to friends. Being a Bose system, it delivers quite well for its cost.

Comments about Bose® CineMate® 520 Home Theater System:

I been a great Bose customer for years. When setting up my new home theater it was a toss up between Onkyo receiver/Bose speakers as I have in 2 other rooms or the Cinemate 520. It was a hard decision but I'm glad I made it! Sorry Onkyo!!!
