Not built to last

By laundriman

Comments about Black & Decker Classic Aluminum Iron:

I bought a new one a few years ago and used it sparingly. Now it doesn't heat up properly and shuts itself off before getting hot enough to use. Upon further internet research, it seems many people have had a similar experience with this substandard product. It is also difficult to disassemble, dissuading anyone from attempting a repair.

Doesn't work

By andielps

from North Carolina, United States

Comments about Black & Decker Classic Aluminum Iron:

Won't heat up and have read the instructions several times to make sure I am doing it right. Wish I had kept my old iron I bought in the late 70's. I am very disappointed with Black & Decker. From the few reviews I have read says this is a piece of junk. Makes me rethink buying from Black & Decker.

It doesn't even work!!!

By The Disappointed Customer

from Garden Grove, CA, United States

Comments about Black & Decker Classic Aluminum Iron:

This iron has a mind of its own!!! Doesn't matter which way I laid it, the power indicator flickered green but then turned off right away. Couldn't get it to heat up! Brrrr. I'm returning it to get a different brand. How disappointing!!! Used to be my favorite!!!

Not as good as it used to be

By Luckbealady

from Virginia, United States

Comments about Black & Decker Classic Aluminum Iron:

I bought this iron several months ago, and I'm very unhappy with it! The iron spits water out constantly from the bottom, and leaks from the reservoir opening. I have taken to putting just a tad bit of water in the iron to use on the steam setting to try to avoid the water spitting out. Even that doesn't seem to help. I can never iron something at the last minute because all of the water spitting out leaves the clothes damp. I am ironing right now, and have decided that I am throwing this iron away and going back to another brand that I used prior. The newer version of the Classic iron is certainly not as well-made as the original.

Great Iron - Doesn't Leak

By FLman

from Undisclosed

Comments about Black & Decker Classic Aluminum Iron:

Finally an iron that doesn't leak or spit water. I've owned irons that cost 3 or 4 times this one but they all would leak. The only think I wish this iron had is a stainless steel soleplate. It doesn't glide as smooth as irons with a stainless steel soleplate. That being said, I still prefer it over my more expensive German made iron

By Changoc

Comments about Black & Decker Classic Aluminum Iron:

I bought this iron about a year ago and its turns off and on. Won't heat at times. I really like the iron so I bought a second one hoping this one will last longer.

Not what it use to be!

By Mama J

from Alabama, United States

Comments about Black & Decker Classic Aluminum Iron:

I have been using this iron my whole life, but I've noticed the last three I have purchased have been really bad irons. It feels and looks the same, but they don't heat up as well, they leak, and doesn't produce the steam they use to. I've always bought this iron because of how well it use to be. Please make it the way you use to! I use to could by a iron and it would last at least 2 years. I've barely got two months out of this one and I've hated it from day 1. I should have took it back!

Black and Decker Iron

By shayna0809

from wv

Comments about Black & Decker Classic Aluminum Iron:

This is actually my first time buying an iron. I had a great experience with this. It did what it was supposed to do. This item is very high quality. *I received this for free from Spectrum for my honest opinion.*

Still using it, still happy!

By SSaunders

from Collinsville, VA, United States

Comments about Black & Decker Classic Aluminum Iron:

An iron may be just a simple household item, but around here we are big fans of things that are built well and work well -- and this iron fits the bill on both counts! We love this iron.
